What can I expect to do in this role?
Coordinate all activities related to the delivery of services performed by Carpenters, Painters, Plumbers and Fleet Maintenance Technicians.
- Coordinate and plan work assignments and the administration of maintenance services provided by in-house trades and maintenance staff, including special, assignments/projects responsible skilled trades.
- Manage the quality of the Preventative Maintenance program for physical assets such as doors, docks, windows, roof and cogenerators.
- Coordinate trades team to support shows, events and special projects.
- Prepare cost estimates for the supply of services to internal and external clients.
- Assist the Director of Operations with overall department budgets and cost effectiveness to balance monthly spending and requirements.
- Assist the Director of Operations with purchasing RFQ’s /RFP’s, open vendor/supplier PO’s that service Operations and other BOG staff.
- Submit weekly timesheets to payroll and review and report payrollsfinal report.
- Liaise with all division coordinators, managers, directors, clients and third-party contractors in the provision of services for legacy clients.
- Attend and provide operational input /feedback in meeting with Events / Tenants / and other day to day BOG operations.
- Monitor and maintain all fleet equipment in good state of repair.
- Verify preventive inspections are conducted and equipment is maintained in proper working order.
- Conduct quality site inspections of contracted services, ensuring work, material, safe practices are performed for maintenance, tenants and business partners.
- Provide support for execution of the grounds hazard program and coordinate repairs as required.
- Assist with technical support and project management services that relate to in-house capital works projects.
- Assist Exhibition Place legal team in litigation matters pertaining to slips and falls and other incidents.
- Oversee contracted maintenance services for building roof, roll up, welding, flooring, and any other building requirements or physical asset.
- Manage and oversee work performed on cogenerators and district energy system (DES).
- Assist the Director of Operations with union matters including negotiation of the collective agreements, arbitrations and grievances for specific bargaining units.
- Assist in the administration and enforcement of Health & Safety, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Conduct monthly Health & Safety awareness training for the reporting team.
How do I qualify?
- Post-secondary technical education/trades certification or an equivalent combination of education and minimum 10 years experience dealing with 25 plus skilled union & non-union trades,
- Several years experience in building repair, facility and fleet maintenance.
- Extensive experience in supervising staff in a 24 hour/ 365 day event environment.
- Experience utilizing software packages (CMMS, Microsoft Words, spreadsheets and electronic mail).
- Possess a valid full G Class Ontario driver’s license in good standing.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
- Proven customer service skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, collective agreements, applicable codes, standards, guidelines and government legislation specifically the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, fire safety regulations and building codes.
- Ability to work days, evenings and weekends including holidays, as required to support operational requirements.
