Responsible to and under the general supervision of the Senior Operations Manager and Operations Manager, the Bartender is responsible for carrying out the procedures necessary to maintain a high standard of customer service, cleanliness and order in the bar.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides service to Servers and customers by dispensing food and beverage items. Responsible for handling cash for the products sold, and for the bar and debit floats. Opens and closes the bar - counts floats and sales at the end of each shift, and upon closing. Cleanliness of all areas, supplies and equipment, with particular attention to areas used by customers including bar counters and seating, tables and chairs and surrounding floor surfaces. Receives orders from suppliers, rotating stock as required in storage areas. Restocks kegs, back-bar beer coolers and all alcohol products, serving supplies and condiments at the end of each shift. Supervision of staff, with particular attention to close monitoring of Servers to ensure that customers consistently receive a high level of customer service offered with a positive attitude in accordance with Students' Union policies. Training part-time staff in a manner consistent with maintaining a high standard of customer service and effective operation of the room. To enforce the AGLC Liquor Control Act, the Capital Health Authority Act, U of A and Students’ Union regulations and policies. Other job-related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Alberta Grade 12, or equivalent. Experienced preferred Excellent work habits, personal hygiene, professional appearance and dress in accordance with Students' Union policy. Good physical condition and the ability to handle full beer kegs. Ability to interact effectively with all customers and Students’ Union staff while presenting a friendly, respectful and diplomatic attitude. Must have ProServe certification.
