Job Summary

A highly motivated, experienced Research Technician is needed for a nationally (SSHRC) funded project on ‘Trauma-Informed Care Guidelines for Virtual Abortion Services (TICG-VAS)”. The purpose of this study is to develop trauma-informed care guidelines tailored to virtual abortion services. By working closely with sexual and reproductive health service providers, the project aims to produce trauma-informed virtual care guidelines to improve patients’ experiences of virtual abortion services. These guidelines will support abortion providers in recognizing and responding to signs of distress or trauma during virtual interactions.

The research technician will be involved in supporting the preparation of BREB materials, literature review, analysis of data and assisting with preparation of manuscripts. This position will participate in the preparation of ethics application materials and conducting a literature search with the assistance of UBC librarian on trauma-informed sexual and reproductive health services. The research technician will also provide supervision to undergraduate students who may be part of the project. The position is hybrid, with occasional visits to the PI Research Unit at the School of Nursing, Surrey Campus.

Confidentiality of highly personal health information collected from a large cohort of vulnerable populations across Canada must be protected at all costs.

Supervision Received
The applicant is expected to function independently but will report to the Principal Investigator. The candidate will provide biweekly oral report on progress of work for feedback and guidance.
