VCH offers opportunites in the following areas of care:
- Adult SLP: Work with clients and their support systems to optimize long-term well-being and functional independence. Embedded in a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment, an Adult SLP supports clients with swallowing and communication difficulties secondary to acquired medical, neurological and respiratory conditions.
- Pediatric SLP: Make an impact early in the lives of preschoolers and their families. With focus on intervention, every day brings new opportunities of learning and connections. Explore your full scope of practice. Build relationships with clients and families and contribute to children reaching their full communication potential.
- Rural SLP: Explore the vast landscape of British Columbia with our unique rural opportunities. In communities such as qathet (Powell River) and the Sunshine Coast, SLPs work with clients with diverse abilities and experience the advantages of working with smaller, creative, and collaborative teams.
These areas of care are offered accross multiple settings, including: - Acute (including Critical Care, Medical, Neuro etc.)
- Rehabilitation (including Sub-Acute, Brain/Spine Injury etc.)
- Pediatrics (Early Intervention)
- Community (including Home Health etc.)
Relocation assistance of up to $5,000 may be available.

As a Speech Language Pathologist with VCH you will: - Assess, diagnose and treat the full range of communication and swallowing disorders.
- Complete client reports, educate clients/family, provide counselling and consultation, and present lectures.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team rounds, risk management and research, and provide leadership to new employees and Speech-Language Pathology students.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Current full registration as a Speech Language Pathologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities - Broad knowledge of evidence based practice.
- Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
- Broad knowledge of research process and methodology.
- Basic knowledge of adult education principles, methods and tools.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to operate related computer equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- Demonstrated ability to determine and deal effectively with urgent situations, clients/families/ residents.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other healthcare professionals.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.
