Working for the Annual Giving unit
The Annual Giving unit at the University of Alberta is the building block for all private philanthropic support. The Annual Giving unit allows the university to pool support from multiple donors to meet the current and pressing needs of students and researchers in the faculties and the university as a whole.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, Engagement, the Program Coordinator is responsible for the management, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors who provide unrestricted annual support for the university and its faculties through their participation in the Annual giving programs such as crowdfunding, class and reunion giving, student and young alumni giving, etc.
The primary focus of the Program Coordinator is to develop an institutional and Development and Alumni Relations wide approach to build Annual Giving programs for key constituencies with a focus on developing fundraising and engagement programs involving students. The Program Coordinator support the Director, Engagement to ensure the overarching goals of the Annual Giving program are met. The incumbent works collaboratively with Development and Alumni Relations colleagues, student groups, and various units across campus.
Duties
- The Annual Giving Program Coordinator will develop and implement new targeted goals and strategies to develop programs for key student constituencies as identified through research.
- Identifies, initiates and develops programs targeting students to support the development of Annual Giving programs.
- Assist with planning, marketing, soliciting, writing, design and stewardship for identified student constituencies and programs.
- Partner with communications and alumni relations staff to develop the content and messaging for engagement with student fundraising.
- Tracks and reports on related results of philanthropic engagement.
- Works directly with student groups and university units to generate crowdfunding projects and establish giving circles or student-supported funds.
- Plays a lead role in the troubleshooting and maintenance of an online giving and crowdfunding platform using an external software application and vendors.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary Diploma; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- At least two years' experience in Marketing, Customer Service, Fundraising, Public Relations, or Communications.
- Familiarity and confidence with current technologies including, content management systems, contact management systems, and mass electronic distribution systems.
- Strong understanding of online websites, online giving strategies, and social networking tools and programs.
- Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient with MS Office, Google Mail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Apps
- Familiarity with Advance fundraising software (or equivalent) is considered an asset.
- Must possess excellent organizational skills and commitment to customer service.
- Familiarity with the University of Alberta is considered an asset.
