Student Research Assistant in the Centre on Contemporary China and the World We now invite applications for the captioned post.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in creating, editing, and scheduling daily posts for the Centre’s social media platforms (WeChat, X, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and WeChat Video Channel).
- Edit and produce short-form videos (e.g., YouTube Shorts, WeChat Video Channel) and longer-form recap videos of Centre events.
- Update the Centre’s website with new content, including publications, op-eds, interviews, and fellow profiles.
- Draft the Centre’s monthly newsletter using provided content. Maintain the mailing list database.
- Provide proactive and on-site support on event organization, scheduling, logistics, and administrative tasks for Centre events.
- Capture photo/video content during events for repurposing on social media and archival purposes.
- Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and execute creative content ideas aligned with the Centre’s goals.
- Ensure all content adheres to the Centre’s branding and messaging guidelines.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Undergraduate or Taught-Postgraduate Students at the University of Hong Kong, who are eligible for part-time on-campus appointments.
- Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) to create bilingual content including social media posts, event announcements, newsletters, and video captions.
- Experience drafting event materials (e.g., social media campaigns, invitations, post-event summaries) and editing event videos.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with design and video editing tools for creating short-form videos and editing event recordings.
- Basic understanding of social media platforms (WeChat, X, LinkedIn, YouTube)
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g. WordPress) and/or email marketing platforms (e.g. Mailchimp) is a plus.
What We Offer The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a temporary part-time hourly basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
