About the role
Position: Case Worker Department: Assertive Community Treatment Team Duration Approximately Twelve (12) Months
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
- Must have minimum two-year diploma or degree in the health/social sciences required
- Recent 2-3 years’ experience working in the field of Addictions and Mental Health
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) Certificate required (recent within the last twelve months)
- Current Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate an asset
- Knowledge of Best Practices in addictions, mental health and the ACTT model of care
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in applying the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation (including assessment, treatment and rehabilitation)
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing recovery informed approaches including motivational interviewing and CBT informed techniques
- Previous experience using different evidence based therapeutic interventions
- Advanced knowledge of community resources and service systems that support individuals with serious mental illness and concurrent disorders
- Exemplifies our organization’s CARE values
- Knowledge of Patient and Family Partnered Care Practices
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to work collaboratively with all members of an Interdisciplinary health care team which includes clients, families and community partners
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner
- Participation in ongoing clinical education for professional growth
- Ability to provide a safe and non-threatening environment to clients
- Excellent crisis intervention assessment and problem-solving skills
- Valid class G Driver’s License and Ministry of Transportation Driver’s Abstract required for extensive travel within the catchment area
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Good attendance and work record required
- Ability to meet the physical demands required for a community-based team
- Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

About North Bay Regional Health Centre
The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a unique healthcare organization with three primary roles. It provides acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, it is the district referral centre providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario
NBRHC has 389 beds and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.
NBRHC is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury). The area is also served by small community hospitals like Mattawa and West Nipissing General hospitals.
NBRHC’s Regional Mental Health Services provides inpatient beds in North Bay and Sudbury and outpatient and outreach services that throughout the region—from Hudson Bay to Muskoka from Sault Ste. Marie to the Quebec border.
A major teaching centre for students in medicine, psychiatry, nursing and allied health professions, NBRHC is proud to be affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, Nipissing University, Canadore College and several other Ontario colleges and universities.
