Job Summary:
A Buyer in procurement in a tooling facility is responsible for strategically sourcing materials and services, negotiating favorable agreements, and managing relationships with suppliers. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, a focus on cost analysis, and attention to quality and compliance standards to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sourcing Suppliers: Identify and assess potential suppliers for materials, components, and services needed in the automotive manufacturing process. Evaluate suppliers based on factors such as quality, cost, delivery capabilities, and compliance with industry standards.
- Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers to secure favorable agreements. Work to obtain the best value for the organization while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis to understand and evaluate the total cost of ownership for materials and services. Assess cost structures, market trends, and economic factors that may impact procurement decisions.
- Purchase Order Management: Generate and manage purchase orders to formalize agreements with suppliers. Ensure accuracy and completeness of purchase orders, including specifications, quantities, and delivery schedules.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to foster collaboration and ensure a reliable supply chain. Address and resolve issues that may arise during the procurement process.
- Contract Management: Assist in the development and management of contracts with suppliers. Ensure compliance with contractual agreements and enforce terms when necessary.
- Market Research: Stay informed about market trends, industry developments, and emerging technologies. Use market intelligence to make informed decisions about sourcing strategies.
- Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with other departments, such as engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to understand technical specifications and project requirements. Collaborate on new product launches, cost reduction initiatives, and other strategic projects.
- Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure that suppliers meet and maintain the required quality standards. Implement processes to monitor and address quality issues in the supply chain.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess risks associated with procurement activities, including supply chain disruptions, geopolitical factors, and economic changes. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure continuity in the supply chain.
Job Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
- Procurement Experience: Prior experience in procurement, preferably within the automotive manufacturing industry.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Experience in building and managing relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts, and addressing supplier-related issues.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with automotive manufacturing processes, materials, and components. Understanding of industry-specific regulations and quality standards.
- ERP and Procurement Software: Proficiency in using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and procurement software for data management and analysis.
- Global Sourcing Experience: Experience in global sourcing, including understanding international markets and navigating supply chain challenges.
