Gate Security Guard – Canadian Forces Base Suffield

Commissionaires Southern Alberta is looking for dedicated Security Guards to protect one of Canada’s most critical sites. As part of a trusted, not-for-profit organization with 90+ years of experience, you’ll be at the forefront of safety and security at Canadian Forces Base Suffield. This is a high-responsibility role where your professionalism, reliability, and customer-focused approach make a real impact every day.

About the Role
As a Gate Security Guard, you will be the first line of protection at the main gate, managing entry and exit for personnel and visitors. This role combines vigilance, discretion, and excellent customer service to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
- Control access by foot or vehicle and issue passes when required
- Patrol assigned areas to prevent theft, vandalism, or fire
- Enforce base regulations and resolve conflicts professionally
- Use radios, computers, and other devices to communicate effectively
- Respond to emergencies, fire alarms, and security incidents
What We’re Looking For
- Must be 18+ years of age with Grade 12 completion
- Valid Alberta Security Services License and First Aid certification
- Successfully obtain Reliability
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to obtain a DND 404 License
- Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
- Strong customer service skills, situational awareness, and judgment
- Some knowledge of Microsoft Office and security software
- Willingness to commute to Suffield
Working Conditions
- 4-on, 4-off rotation: 12-hour shifts (day: 0600–1800 / night: 1800–0600)
- Indoors and outdoors, including periods of inclement weather
- Walking, standing, sitting, climbing/descending stairs as required
