About the role

Senior Research Assistants are normally graduate students, or University of Winnipeg undergraduate students, employed to assist in the execution and evaluation of research projects in their area of study. The positions may oversee Research Assistants in areas such as the use of proper techniques, analysis, and documentation.

Senior Research Assistants work under the general supervision or direction of more senior researchers or faculty members, and are expected to exercise judgment in prioritizing, planning and organizing their own work within defined parameters.

Position Overview:

The Sr. Research Assistant will work with the Researcher to analyse different largescale Statistics Canada datasets in the Research Data Centre (RDC) to understand outcomes of different types of rental housing across Canada.

Duties:

  • The Sr RA will work with the researcher to prepare a literature review of Indigenous rental housing across Canada.
  • The Sr RA will participate in interviews with our research partners.
  • The Sr RA will work in the RDC with the researcher to understand different housing types and outcomes for renters in Canada.
  • Working with the Researcher, the Sr RA will develop statistical models to analyse in Stata or R to examine outcomes of housing types.
  • The Sr RA will write articles iwth the researcher based on findings.
  • The Sr RA will work with a national team studying rental housing and participate in bi-weekly online Zoom meetings to discuss progress, findings, and considerations in this work.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed requirements for undergraduate degree in business, social sciences, or social work.
  • Must have attained a B grade in statistics I and II.
  • Some training Stat or R is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous students, please self-identify within your application.

Condition(s) of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

The period of work will be from May 26, 2026 - May 27, 2026, and the estimated total hours of work will be 0-1500 hours.
