About the role
Position Summary
The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for monitoring staff activity on all shifts, scheduling and facilitating staff meetings and in-service education sessions on a regular basis for the evening and night staff. This position requires evening and weekend shifts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assisting in operations to maintain a well-organized and efficient department.

Requesting repairs of equipment, chairs, etc. to the Maintenance Department or external provider as required.

Scheduling and maintaining records of all project work.

Assuming the responsibilities of the Senior Supervisor/Manager of Housekeeping in their absence.
-
Participating in meetings in lieu of Senior Supervisor of Housekeeping/Manager when required.
-
Conducting on-going Quality Assurance audits in all areas.
-
Conducting on-going patient surveys.
-
Conducting on-going hospital wide inspections/tours to assess cleanliness.
-
Reassigning staff to meet departmental needs.
-
Ensuring sufficient non-stock supplies are available for staff.

Monitor/evaluate work assigned to EVS Admin Assist
-
Recording information to be used for monthly reports such as glo audits, patient satisfaction surveys, health and safety inspections..
-
Monitoring completion of assigned duties as indicated on work routines – flag and report any on-going non-completion of assigned duties.

Making departmental recommendations for improvement as required.
-
Monitoring staff activity on an on-going basis to ensure staff adherence to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.

Training of staff as required, including departmental orientation

Take lead on administrative projects as assigned
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Director Facilities Management, Environmental Services, Security and Biomedical Engineering or Manager of Facilities Management and Environmental Services, or Environmental Services Supervisor
The Supervisor may need to be available for additional coverage as required.
There may be an opportunity for this position to become permanent following the six month contract.
Qualifications
Minimum grade 12 diploma required.
- Completion of Public Health Ontario’s (PHO) Core Competencies in Infection Control required.
- OHA Environmental Services Leadership Course required or willing to obtain within two years.
- Two (2) years Environmental Services leadership experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Related experience in health care environment preferred.
- Demonstrated computer literacy including working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).
- Demonstrated outstanding ability to organize, prioritize, multi task and be flexible in order to adapt to stressful and rapidly changing situations.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills (in English both written and verbal), discretion, and good public relations skills.
- Demonstrated initiative and good judgement in problem-solving and decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, independently and in a teamwork environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, direct, motivate and mentor staff.
- Demonstrated ability to demonstrate through performance, an acceptable level of ethical conduct and strict confidentiality.
- Demonstrated knowledge of infection control practices and best practices within housekeeping in a healthcare
- Demonstrates commitment to continued professional and personal growth and development through Continuing Education Programs and Self Directed Learning Opportunities.
