As an HR Generalist, you’ll be a trusted partner to our Service Division, supporting field technicians, shop technicians, service administrators, and their leaders across the country. This is your chance to influence culture, drive employee engagement, and support safety-sensitive teams who make Canada a safer place to live and work.

You’ll report to the Director of People & Culture and collaborate closely with service managers, supervisors, and our QA/Health & Safety team to ensure employees have the tools, guidance, and support they need to succeed.

This hybrid role is based out of our Edmonton branch, with some travel across Canada (about 25%) to connect with and support our teams in person.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with service team managers and supervisors to drive a positive team experience and strong employee retention through HR programs including but not limited to onboarding, Performance Commitments, employee engagement initiatives and action planning, performance management, development plans, succession planning, talent assessment, and more.
  • Mitigate risk through manager and supervisor coaching and legally sound employment documentation including but not limited to averaging agreements, schedule and role changes, performance coaching, etc.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition on recruitment to ensure timely, high-quality hires.
  • Support our safety-first culture by working with the Health & Safety/QA teams to support our national programs, policies, compliance, and manager coaching, and ultimately drive exceptional safety records and resources that support our Home Safe, Always organizational objectives.
  • Serve as the Designated Employer Representative (DER) for our Drug & Alcohol program.
  • Develop and deliver training (live and online) to support managers and employees, while collaborating with HR team for other portfolios to ensure consistency across all programs and resources.
  • Manage engagement, new hire, and exit surveys - analyzing results and supporting action planning.
  • Identifies continuous improvement opportunities in our HR programs, in collaboration with the full HR team.
  • Provide backup and collaboration across the HR team to ensure a seamless employee experience.
  • Other projects and duties as required to support an evolving HR/People & Culture function.

The Ideal Candidate should have:

  • 5+ years’ experience as an HR Generalist or equivalent supporting an industrial and safety-sensitive employee group
  • Thorough understanding of multi-province employment standards, human rights legislation, and general compliance in an HR function
  • Experience managing or supporting drug and alcohol testing programs.
  • Experience with Dayforce or equivalent HCM coupled with knowledge of payroll
  • Strong technical skills, able to effectively learn and leverage systems including Office 365 tools, to work efficiently
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
  • Experience developing and delivering training both live and via eLearning is a strong asset
  • A true team-player with a collaborative mindset. Think team-first, flexible, and always ready to pitch in.
  • Able to travel within Canada as required to meet business needs (< 25% expected)
  • Occasional after-hours incident support may be required
