As a Bilingual Reimbursement Manager supporting multiple patient support programs, you will develop strong, long-term relationships with patients, healthcare practitioners, payors, and manufacturer partners. Securing coverage for specialty medications is proving more and more difficult as both public and private payors implement measures to contain costs and restrict reimbursement. Our Bilingual Reimbursement Manager provides support to our Reimbursement Specialists, patients, and prescribing physicians, by working in partnership to obtain insurance coverage of required medication, with a focus on submitting appeals when coverage is denied. Scope: The Bilingual Reimbursement Manager is personally responsible for ensuring the reimbursement success of the Rare Disease Programs at SDMSHN, while also guiding Program Management in achieving reimbursement success for all PSPs across the organization. This role involves overseeing the strategic management of complex reimbursement cases, leading the development of reimbursement strategies, and ensuring the efficient commercialization of various molecules. The Bilingual Reimbursement Manager works closely with key internal and external stakeholders, such as healthcare providers, insurers, and clients, to navigate complex reimbursement landscapes, drive program growth, and foster strong relationships. The role requires both independent problem-solving and collaboration to meet business goals, while maintaining compliance with regulatory and confidentiality standards.
What you will do:
- Lead the reimbursement efforts for the Rare Disease Programs, ensuring successful appeals and patient access to critical therapies.
- Guide and support Program Management across all PSPs at SDMSHN to achieve reimbursement success, ensuring optimal patient access to specialty medications.
- Prepare Reimbursement Guides, Landscapes and Payor Guides for all PSPs to ensure consistent and effective communication regarding reimbursement policies and strategies.
- Provide reimbursement coaching and guidance to SDMSHN colleagues across the organization, as requested.
- Vet Free Goods Requests and appeal letters submitted by the Senior Reimbursement Specialist, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reimbursement policies.
- Attend weekly meetings with the Rare Diseases Program, coaching the Senior Reimbursement Specialist to lead these meetings effectively.
- Provide reimbursement strategies and tactics to the Senior Reimbursement Specialist and Rare Disease Program Management to drive commercialization for complex reimbursement files.
- Prepare and deliver reimbursement training sessions for new hires and current employees as part of the Learning and Development Department’s initiatives.
- Develop and implement reimbursement strategies for high-cost drugs, leveraging market insights to ensure timely and effective access for patients.
- Review and refine reimbursement processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend process improvements to enhance overall program performance and success for all PSPs.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop new initiatives, improve business processes, and drive SDMSHN’s goals of patient access and reimbursement success.
- Analyze the PA Denial reasons for each PSP using Dashboard and Program-specific reporting.
- Meet with the PSP to develop an Appeal Tool Kit to approve their success rate, where applicable.
What you will need:
- Bilingualism (French & English): Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders.
- College or University degree in a relevant field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Reimbursement Specialist in patient support programs, with significant expertise in Rare Diseases and complex reimbursement appeals.
- Proven track record in executing successful appeals to both public and private payors, particularly within the rare disease and specialty medication sectors.
- Experience with key stakeholders, including direct interactions with healthcare professionals, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and public/private payors.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex reimbursement scenarios, identify gaps, and develop strategic solutions.
- Proven ability to meet targets by setting priorities and managing time effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with meticulous attention to detail in documentation and training materials.
- Strong computer skills in a Windows environment using MS Office (Excel, Word) and familiarity with CRM tools like Salesforce.
- Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team member in a dynamic, evolving work environment.
- Ability to attend Reimbursement conferences in-person on behalf of SDM SHN to stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.
