About the role

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural / FEA Engineer to lead complex structural, thermal, and vibration analyses for aircraft components and systems. This role is critical in ensuring all designs meet rigorous airworthiness and safety standards required by global aviation authorities, including Transport Canada (TC), the FAA, and EASA.

The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and experienced in producing certification-ready reports that demonstrate regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

  • Perform detailed linear and non-linear structural, thermal, vibration, fatigue, and fracture mechanics analyses using industry-standard tools (e.g., Nastran).
  • Develop, refine, and troubleshoot FEA models, ensuring correct boundary conditions, material properties, and load cases.
  • Validate simulation results using test data, classical methods, or hand calculations.

Regulatory Compliance & Certification

  • Ensure all analysis methods and deliverables meet applicable airworthiness standards (TC, FAA Part 25, EASA).
  • Prepare certification-ready stress reports, test plans, analysis reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Present findings to internal design authorities and external regulatory bodies.

Design Collaboration & Optimization

  • Work closely with design, manufacturing, and test teams to inform design decisions.
  • Provide analytical recommendations to optimize performance, weight, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Support root cause analysis for failures using FEA tools and engineering judgment.

Process & Methodology Improvement

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of internal simulation procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to increase accuracy, speed, and standardization of analysis workflows.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).

Professional Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on FEA experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of aircraft design, certification processes, and continuing airworthiness requirements (TC, FAA, EASA).

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with FEA tools such as Nastran.
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics, dynamics, materials, failure modes, and fracture mechanics.
  • Experience preparing and manipulating CAD geometry (e.g., SolidWorks) for analysis.
  • High-level technical writing skills with the ability to produce clear, detailed engineering reports.

Why Join Us?

  • Contribute to innovative aerospace programs in a growing engineering environment.
  • Collaborate with a highly skilled team dedicated to safety, quality, and advanced technology.
  • Opportunities for professional growth, certification exposure, and technical leadership.
