Are you ready to drive innovation and entrepreneurship, empowering students to turn their big ideas into reality at the University of Regina? Join us as our new Director of the Graduate Advanced Training and Entrepreneurship (GATE) Centre!

The Director of the Graduate Advanced Training and Entrepreneurship (GATE) Centre will drive the sustainable development and management of student entrepreneurship and career-readiness programs. GATE provides cross-disciplinary activities to support student entrepreneurship, development, creativity and innovation that help bring their big ideas and dreams to life. The Director will serve as a nexus between the academic and research activities of the University, new and established entrepreneurs, industry-leading companies, and community-based organizations.

This position plays a critical role in advancing the financial sustainability, strategic direction and operational effectiveness of GATE, with responsibilities focused on fundraising and financial management, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement, and staff leadership and team development.

What You’ll Do:

Fundraising and Financial Management

  • Identify and pursue grant, sponsorship, and partnership opportunities to support GATE initiatives.
  • Prepare and submit funding proposals to secure financial resources for GATE.
  • Develop annual and multi-year forecasts aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with academic, industry, government and philanthropic partners to secure and sustain partnerships and funding to support GATE’s mission.

Strategic Direction and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead the completion and implementation of GATE’s strategic plan, incorporating staff and stakeholder feedback.
  • Strengthen institutional partnerships by developing a solid understanding of University processes, programs, and units.
  • Engage entrepreneurial partners to support the vision to integrate entrepreneurial expertise and programming into the student culture, providing students with applied, immersive learning opportunities that impact the regional economy.
  • Oversee and grow social media presence; design and execute a social media campaign across multiple outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn, and others.

Program Development and Delivery

  • Support the integration of an entrepreneurial ecosystem of expertise and programming into the University of Regina culture to provide increased support and opportunities for students.
  • Provide professional development opportunities to students that bridge the classroom and the workforce.
  • Oversee the planning, organization, implementation, and hosting of high-impact. entrepreneurship and professional development events, workshops, speakers series. conferences and design challenges to support learning and entrepreneurship.
  • Oversee student entrepreneur recruitment efforts and meet with prospective students and other constituent groups to grow GATE’s entrepreneurial identity.

Staff Leadership and Team Development

  • Responsible for providing the leadership and management of staff and staffing processes, assessing and supporting professional development and training needs and evaluating annual performance of staff.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and team norms.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and one-on-one check-ins to support communication and accountability.
  • Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages growth and alignment with organizational priorities.

Position Requirements

What You’ll Bring to this Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in a business-related field preferred.
  • Experience mentoring/coaching/working with or in early-stage companies, including in the areas of technology transfer and intellectual property protection, product development, raising capital, marketing and management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience in managing and/or developing entrepreneurship and/or professional development programs.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:

  • Entrepreneurial drive, action-oriented and collaborative personality.
  • The ability to build and sustain relationships with community partners, as well as with faculty, student, staff and alumni partners in order to advance student innovation, entrepreneurship and professional development.
  • Highly developed analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience to identify industry and government grant funding and sponsorship opportunities, as demonstrated by a track record in successful grant applications.
  • Experience in identifying and tracking appropriate performance metrics necessary to measure program outcomes and impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Physical Demands Pay Grade OOS 7 Salary Range $87,478 to $131,220 Status Term Work Hours

Monday to Friday 8:15-4:30. Evening and weekend work will be required for various events and initiatives.
