Position Summary An Electrical Technician position is crucial to our business as it operates in the field of electro-mechanical manufacturing or other services. This position involves providing technical support to electrical engineers, designers, and other professionals. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth functioning of electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure within our business model .
Responsibilities
- Collaborating with engineers and other technical personnel to develop new electrical systems, products, and devices.
- Conducting tests and inspections on electrical equipment and systems to ensure that they meet quality standards and specifications with troubleshooting electrical problems and providing technical support to resolve them.
- Using various software and computer-aided design (CAD) tools to create electrical schematics and blueprints, developing, and implementing procedures for testing, calibration, and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.
- Arrange and utilize both standard and specialized testing tools and equipment to examine, evaluate, and analyze the functioning of electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems.
- Develop and optimize electrical instrumentation and testing equipment for various Savaria product lines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Mindset, Skills & Education
- Two- or Three-year diploma program in Electrical Engineering or similar background.
- At least 5 years’ experience in an Electrical-Technical position in an elevator-based manufacturing facility.
- Knowledge of various Electrical concepts like Electrical Circuits, Electrical Safety, Circuit Analysis, Wiring and Installation, Communication Systems, and Testing and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and PLC Programming (Omron, Allen-Bradley, and Siemens).
- Familiarity with Engineering Drawing Practices and Technical Documentation.
- Knowledge of Electrical/PCB Design software such as OrCAD, Altium an asset.
- Familiarity with Electrical Codes, Standards, and Certifications such as CSA, UL, ETL, and QPS.
- Familiarity with Elevator codes and their requirements.
- Must be a highly motivated self-starter, who works well with minimal supervision.
- Must be goal oriented and constantly striving for continuous improvement.
- Interest in technical aspects of Electro-mechanical manufacturing.
