Lead Variable Compensation Analyst

The Opportunity:
The role reports to the Sr. Director of Revenue Operations and provides support to sales teams in all business units. This role is based in Waterloo, Canada. The successful candidate will be highly analytical, detail-oriented, and possess a broad understanding of sales compensation plans. The role will provide operational support and analysis regarding sales compensation calculations, facilitating acquisitions/divestitures, and implementing process improvement and be a primary interface between variable compensation and the sales teams.

Responsibilities include ensuring compensation calculations are understood, communicated, and practiced. In addition, includes being responsible for continuous sales comp process improvement initiatives centered around sales comp actuals and AE at the Centre initiatives.

A critical success in this role will be the ability to provide efficient support to the sales organization, and, to communicate and work collaboratively with other groups across the global OpenText organization.You are great at:

  • providing guidance to other VC Analysts regarding best practices, prioritization and professional growth.
  • Oversee end-to-end processes for commission pay calculations, exceptions, reporting, and audits completed by the analyst team.
  • Establish standardized methodologies, tools, and documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Identify areas where processes need to be automated and/or streamlined and lead those initiatives.
  • Compiling regular and ad hoc reports of key operational metrics
  • Communicating cross functionally with different business lines to ensure departmental goals and objectives are clearly disseminated, understood, managed, and tracked
  • Be point person to communicate and address sales compensation plans. Includes communicating plan design and structure, analysis/verification of performance data.
  • Review monthly commission calculations to ensure accuracy. Proactively follow-up on situations that need clarification and provide insight.
  • Generate compensation modeling for deals under special compensation review consideration

What it takes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience specializing in Business Administration, Financial Analysis, Accounting or other business-related technical field
  • 5+ years overall experience in business analysis, financial analysis, and/or metrics and reporting
  • Thorough experience using Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings. Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent understanding of process management improvement practices, analytical tools, and practical application for results.
  • Must have experience working closely with senior executives.
  • Previous sales compensation experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with Anaplan or Xacty an asset.
