About Amethyst
For more than three decades, Amethyst has remained committed to providing a safe, stable environment in which recovering drug and alcohol dependent women, and women with children, can work toward and maintain sobriety. It is one of only a few programs in the nation where children are accepted into the treatment setting and also receive services to help stop the generational cycle of addiction.
Amethyst has gained recognition as a pioneer and leader in gender-specific addiction and trauma treatment integrated with safe supportive housing for women and their families. Amethyst’s holistic approach to treatment has helped thousands of women to begin new lives in recovery, restore their families and become productive members of society.
Amethyst provides a client-centered treatment experience with a variable length of stay based on client needs. A wide spectrum of individualized services is available to meet the specific needs of clients and their families, including intensive outpatient treatment for addiction; traditional outpatient treatment; supportive housing; medical services; mental health and trauma treatment; family services; and job readiness and placement.
The Amethyst treatment model allows families to become part of a living, healing community. The average length of stay for Amethyst’s women and their families is 23 months, giving them the time it takes to heal from the disease of addiction—which is why so many of our women are successful in their sobriety! Amethyst now provides 150 safe and sober housing units and serves approximately 420 women and 100 children every year.
