Job Description

What is the opportunity?

We are seeking a Senior Technical manager to lead the strategic transformation and technical evolution of our Capital Markets Reconciliations platform. This role combines executive leadership in reconciliation operations with cutting-edge technical innovation, including the integration of Agentic AI and advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. The successful candidate will drive the retirement of legacy third-party reconciliation tools while architecting next-generation intelligent automation solutions that position RBC as an industry leader in AI-driven financial operations.

What will you do?

Strategic Leadership & Platform Transformation (35%)

  • Lead the comprehensive reconciliation strategy across all capital markets operations, overseeing the retirement of third-party tools such as Xceptor and iMatch while simultaneously architecting advanced AI-powered reconciliation platforms. Define and execute the technical vision and roadmap that incorporates Agentic AI frameworks to enable autonomous reconciliation processes across equities, fixed income, derivatives, and complex structured products.
  • Establish enterprise-wide standards for intelligent reconciliation systems, ensuring seamless integration with existing trading, settlement, and risk management ecosystems while maintaining strict regulatory compliance across Basel III, CFTC, SEC, and IIROC requirements.

Advanced AI & Technology Innovation (30%)

  • Drive the development and implementation of sophisticated AI capabilities including multi-agent architectures, natural language processing for exception handling, computer vision for document processing, and reinforcement learning for continuous process optimization. Architect scalable, resilient reconciliation systems that leverage autonomous decision-making frameworks capable of self-directed problem-solving in complex reconciliation scenarios.
  • Lead research and development initiatives focused on emerging technologies including large language models, graph neural networks, and quantum computing applications in financial reconciliation. Oversee the development and enhancement of in-house reconciliation tools within OpsHub, ensuring they incorporate cutting-edge AI orchestration platforms and machine learning frameworks.

Team Leadership & Organizational Development (20%)

  • Manage and mentor a diverse team of software engineers, data scientists, AI specialists, and reconciliation experts across onshore and offshore resources. Foster a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous learning while driving adoption of new technologies throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, compliance teams, risk management, and the AI & Digital team to translate complex reconciliation requirements into intelligent, automated solutions. Partner with source system teams to ensure accurate data sourcing and seamless system integration.

Operational Excellence & Stakeholder Management (15%)

  • Oversee end-to-end reconciliation processes, ensuring data accuracy, operational efficiency, and risk mitigation across all capital markets operations. Act as primary liaison between technical teams and business users, providing regular updates to senior leadership on reconciliation initiatives, progress, risks, and opportunities.
  • Manage vendor relationships and technology partnerships while ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. Drive cultural change and adoption of AI-driven reconciliation methodologies across the enterprise.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, or related quantitative field along with 8-10+ years of experience in financial services technology, with 5-8+ years in capital markets operations or banking

  • Proven track record of leading large-scale technical transformations and managing senior technical teams

  • Experience in one or more of the following: Agentic AI systems, multi-agent architectures, and autonomous decision-making frameworks;

  • Proficiency in machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and AI orchestration platforms

  • Strong background in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud-native development; advanced knowledge of SQL, Python, and other relevant programming languages

  • Comprehensive understanding of capital markets operations, trade lifecycle, and settlement processes, or banking knowledge/experience

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive audiences; proven experience managing large, diverse teams and driving organizational change

  • Strong business acumen with ability to align technical solutions with strategic objectives; experience managing vendor relationships and enterprise-wide technology partnerships

Nice to have:

  • Deep knowledge of reconciliation processes across multiple asset classes and complex financial instruments
  • Experience with regulatory requirements and their impact on reconciliation processes
  • Understanding of derivatives pricing, risk calculations, and structured products

We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
