About the role

Our client, a major oil and gas producer, is looking for a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler based in their Edson, AB office for a 6-12 month contract position. This is a Monday-Friday position, 8 hour days, with some travel required to field sites. Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning day-to-day preventative and corrective activities. The Maintenance Planner uses SAP to optimize resources and materials and minimize production impacts, in support of an effective integrated planning and scheduling process.

Responsibilities
Safety

  • Lead and enforce HSE policies, standards, and Life Saving Rules.
  • Ensure safety is prioritized in all operations; promote a strong safety culture.
  • Conduct and participate in safety meetings; ensure safe work procedures are integrated into all plans.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Align work with company’s Purpose, Values, and corporate standards.
  • Coach, mentor, and train staff to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and contractors for integrated work planning.
  • Serve as SAP PM resource, providing training and system support.

Technical

  • Responsible for detailed and accurate planning, enabling work to be completed in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner, in alignment with M&R, Operational and Regulatory standards. This is done by:
    • Ensuring all materials, resources, services, and equipment required, as per an individual work order line-item detail, are identified and available as required
    • Requisitioning of resources and materials
    • Providing accurate cost estimates
    • Providing accurate cost coding to vendors
    • Attaching all relevant documentation to the work package
    • Assigning qualified vendors to undertake work
  • Manage the planning backlog; work with the relevant integrated partners to plan work requests so that orders are “ready to schedule”
  • For break-in work, create work orders for tracking costs and history.
  • Facilitate weekly schedule review meetings with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering to discuss ongoing activities, prioritize activities, review upcoming planned work for the next two weeks and identify maintenance requirements which may have been overlooked.
  • Identify gaps in SAP master data compliance with the M&R master data standards (e.g., accurate asset register, equipment static data, cost centers including data related to maintenance plans) and take action to address issues.
  • Provide input into improvement and optimization of Preventative Maintenance (PM) Plans.
  • Develop Standard Job Plans, including task lists, based on input from Coordinators, Craftsmen, and vendors.
  • Manage PM plans; develop new and refine existing plans where applicable.
  • Provide support to the RCFA process.
  • Provide input into requirements for commonly used spare parts, in support of the Materials Management process.
  • Leverage warehouse and surplus inventory during the planning cycle, in support of the Materials Management process.
  • Support bidding and execution of major maintenance events and overhauls, as required.
  • Perform active debriefing and after-action reviews in all phases of the planning processes to surface key lessons and continuously improve the quality of planning.
  • Participate in monthly cost review and annual budget development meetings with Maintenance Coordinators, Senior Trades, Maintenance Planners and Operations.
  • Leverage performance metrics, including PM completion data, to ensure processes are operating effectively; provide reports as required.
  • Identify, prioritize, implement, and support continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Promote a disciplined culture as it relates to the accuracy and management of the PM master data.
  • Collaborate with Operations in turnaround planning. Develop task lists for repetitive routine tasks and turn around activities.
  • Participate as a member of project teams related to Production Operations’ and cross-functional initiatives, as required.
  • Support the MOC process.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience in Planning and Scheduling.
  • A strong and proven commitment to safety.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Able to plan multiple activities.
  • In depth knowledge of maintenance planning fundamentals, including capacity planning and scheduling.
  • Reside within commuting distance of Edson as this is an office-based position.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a Journeyman Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation is preferred.
  • Experience in use of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (SAP)
  • Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling processes
  • Demonstrates skill in use of SAP PM and MM modules
