Make your mark while you grow your career! Focused on business and operations in
the Oil & Gas industry, the Internal Audit Analyst adds value and drives operational improvement by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and control processes. This role performs the full audit lifecycle (planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up) across Canadian Natural’s business areas, covering operational, financial, compliance, IT/cybersecurity, and other processes, and delivers actionable recommendations to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
As part of the Internal Audit team, the Internal Audit Analyst will work closely
with management to provide independent assurance that key risks are appropriately identified, managed, and mitigated. The role offers broad exposure across Canadian Natural’s business, including Corporate, Oil Sands Mining, Conventional, Thermal, and Offshore operations in the North Sea and West Africa.

- Work schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts, Monday – Friday

Key Accountabilities
- Plan and execute risk-based audits, including planning, fieldwork, reporting and follow-up
- Develop and contribute to risk assessments by obtaining an understanding of business processes, identifying key risks and designing right-sized audit programs
- Perform detailed analysis of assigned processes to understand business objectives, identify key risks and assess the effectiveness of related controls
- Plan and perform process walk‑throughs, design and execute audit testing procedures, and document audit work in accordance with internal audit methodology
- Prepare clear, concise audit reports with practical value-added recommendations; monitor and follow up on agreed management actions
What You Bring to the Role
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline and a professional designation in Auditing (CIA), Accounting (CPA), or Engineering (P.Eng.), or a willingness to pursue a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Internal Audit Practitioner (IAP) designation
- 3 to 10 years of audit and/or oil & gas industry experience, with strong business acumen, professional judgment, and knowledge of internal auditing practices and the Canadian Oil & Gas industry
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate issues, build trust, maintain independence, and drive positive outcomes
- Strong risk assessment, project management, and organizational skills, with the ability to identify emerging risks, manage multiple priorities simultaneously, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
- Self-motivated and adaptable professional who is comfortable with ambiguity, takes initiative, works independently and collaboratively, demonstrates ownership, and embraces continuous learning
