About the role
The primary role of a Jumbo Bolter Operator is to drill, scale, mesh and bolt rounds using jumbos equipped with twin telescopic slides.
Closing: May 29, 2026
Location: Overseas
Rotation: 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off
Shift Length: 12 hours
Compensation: Redpath offers a comprehensive wage and benefits package
Travel: Flights are provided from point of hire to jobsite
Conditions of Employment: Successful completion of pre-employment medical and substance abuse test

Roles and Responsibilities
Health and Safety:
-
Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment
-
Following Redpath's health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
-
Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
-
Must have knowledge of the WHMIS/GHS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
General:
-
Visually inspect and wash down the working area, checking for misfires
-
Assess ground conditions at the face and implement ground control according to site requirements
-
The ability to read and understand the ground support management plan and carry a copy of the current heading ground support plan into the heading.
-
Proficient in the installation of mesh and bolts using the twin boom split feed jumbo to site standards which ensures correct mesh overlap, bolt spacing etc.
-
Mentor the offsider and train to ensure safe behaviour and always works under supported ground.
-
Always isolate booms when offsider is in front of the jacks.
-
Conduct face prep to established standards (sign off) prior to drilling rounds
-
Ability to read and follow survey memos, mark up offsets line and grade.
-
Ability to read and follow engineered drill profiles (Approved site standards)
-
Perform minor repairs, such as changing shanks, couplings and hoses while adhering to Lock out, Tag out, Zero energy state prior to performing any repairs..

Complete daily checklists/pre-starts on equipment and submit written and verbal reports to supervisor.

Maintain working area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.

Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner

Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage

Working Conditions, Physical and Mental Demands
W****orking Conditions:
- Exposure to vibrations, dirt, dust, high or low temperatures, loud noise and hazardous substances such as explosives and thermal water conditions
- Exposure to deadlines, multiple demands, distractions/interruptions
Physical Demands:
- Handle loads under 50 kg in weight
- Stand for over 60 consecutive minutes with little or no walking
- Stay alert during periods of inactivity that can extend for more than 60 minutes
- Perceive fine visual detail
- Perceive differences in colour
Mental Demands:
- Work performed is done in isolation and in vicinity of working and moving equipment
- Require a high level of alertness to detect hazardous conditions.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Work Experience:
- 3 years or more experience with Jumbo Bolting
- 1 year of experience on a scoop
- 1 year of experience installing services
- 1 year of experience loading and blasting rounds.
Knowledge Required:
- Demonstrated ability to read mine plans and specifications for underground mining.
- Demonstrate how to turn corners using offsets
- Ability to multitask and work effectively
- Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
- Respectful of cultural differences
