About the role
The HSE Field Coordinator provides essential support to WesTower Communications wireline and wireless divisions on job sites throughout Alberta. The HSE field coordinator will support with site inspections, auditing, planning, development, implementation, and maintenance of the health and safety program. This role is responsible for coordinating daily safety activities, including training and orientations, incident tracking and investigation, and the development of corrective action recommendations. The HSE Coordinator ensures compliance with applicable safety standards and regulations, promotes best practices, and contributes to the continuous improvement of HSE procedures, while performing additional duties as required.

Work Duties
- Supply direct Health and Safety support to the operational site level leadership and health and safety committee representatives.
- Assist with the creation, facilitation, tracking, and coordination of training, including annual training and third-party training.
- Perform risk assessments and development of safe work procedures for corporate and regional purposes.
- Provide guidance and support to operations to meet OHS and corporate expectations.
- Lead the facilitation of serious investigations, including recordable injuries, near misses, and critical incidents.
- Assist in accompanying and complying with OHS inspections and potential orders.
- Support the regional operations in preparation for Group Health and Safety Management Systems audits and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
- Support the HSE team and regional operations in the development and implementation of Health and Safety priorities, guidance documents, key lessons learned, best practices, and policies.
- Support the HSE team in the implementation of both corporate and regional Health, Safety, and Environment directives.
- Assist with the utilization of internal reporting tools to meet reporting requirements.
- Assist in developing and sharing regional communications to all stakeholders, including key lessons, best practices, alerts, and KPIs.
- Conduct inspections on the quality of health and safety documentation.
- Assist with annual COR audits.
- Monitor and report on the overall effectiveness of the implementation of corporate Health, Safety & Environment plans.
- Provide support to site leadership in the preparation of site-specific safety plans for safety meetings and toolbox talks.
Requirements
- NCSO designation (required).
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a health and safety professional.
- Experience in the civil construction industry, with a focus on directional drilling and aerial placement (preferred).
- Experience with telecommunication tower construction and maintenance (considered an asset).
- Welding and fabrication experience (considered an asset).
- French language proficiency (considered an asset).
- Experience managing prime contractors and subcontractors (considered an asset).
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
- Valid driver’s license (required).
Working Conditions
- Physical ability to lift 25lbs.
- Manual dexterity required to use the desktop computer and peripherals.
- Regular Site visits will be required for inspections, work observations, and general HSE and coordination support.
