About the role
At Cerby we believe security is everyone’s business. Collaborating across your apps doesn’t need to be chaos. We are a mission-critical cybersecurity company that empowers your teams to operate securely and control their apps completely. We’ve built our product on the idea that teams deserve autonomy over their work apps. It turns out that why they are guaranteed a choice, security comes naturally.
More than 50% of all technology is spent outside of centralized IT organizations. Individual business units are taking their technology destiny into their own hands, and we enable that. End user onboarded applications are behind more than one third of all cybersecurity hacks. We provide the solution to manage that through enabling users to select their own technology and we automatically protect those applications.
About The Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who thrives on building scalable SaaS products from the ground up. This is not just about maintaining systems — you’ll be designing, architecting, and delivering the next generation of Cerby’s identity verification and resolution platform.
This is a chance to build and scale a mission-critical security product used by global enterprises and millions of end users. You’ll work closely with product, security, data, and UX teams to solve complex identity challenges, shaping both the technical foundation and the user experience of Cerby’s platform.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and scale backend services and APIs for identity lifecycle management and security automation.
- Partner with product managers to translate feature requirements into impactful technical solutions.
- Build integrations with third-party services (KYC/AML providers, biometrics, document verification, etc.) that expand our capabilities.
Develop SDKs and client libraries to make Cerby’s platform simple to adopt. - Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability as we grow to millions of users.
- Monitor and optimize system health, latency, and error rates.
- Participate in design and code reviews, contributing to architectural decisions.
- Champion security and privacy in everything you build, from encryption to compliance.
- Mentor junior engineers and shape best practices across the team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience at a SaaS or product-focused company.
- Strong knowledge of one or more backend languages (Python, Go, Java, Node.js).
- Experience building APIs and microservices at scale.
- Familiarity with databases (SQL, NoSQL), caching, queues, and distributed systems.
- Proven ability to integrate with third-party APIs and external services.
Experience with performance tuning, instrumentation, and monitoring. - Strong awareness of security, privacy, and compliance best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Background in identity security solutions (Access Security, Lifecycle Management, Enterprise Privilege Management) is a strong plus.
About Cerby
Cerby is the only identity security platform built for disconnected apps, providing IT and Security teams with full control over apps that lack APIs or support for protocols like SAML or SCIM. Seamlessly integrating with your central identity provider, Cerby extends critical security automations—such as SSO, MFA, and lifecycle management—to any app without incurring the costly “SSO tax.” With Cerby, teams can automate essential tasks like user deprovisioning and password rotations, reducing manual work while closing security gaps.
With Cerby, your team can: ✔ Centralize and automate access controls for disconnected apps ✔Securely share access to corporate social media accounts ✔ Streamline lifecycle management for apps without APIs or SCIM ✔ Automate deprovisioning and password rotations for shared privileged accounts ✔ Instantly detect app sprawl and make IT-approved suggestions to control costs and proliferation
