**Location -**This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Reporting to the Director, Office of Education, the Academic Integrity Coordinator (AIC) is a key member of the Office of Education team and is responsible for coordinating all academic discipline cases that are being investigated under the Student Academic Integrity Policy (SAIP) for all Faculties in the College. The AIC is a key contact for students and instructors regarding the academic discipline process. This position must understand the complexity of the Student Academic Integrity Policy, as it supports Faculty Decision Makers to facilitate a timely and effective investigation.

The College of Health Sciences unites the University of Alberta’s health-focused faculties and schools to enable a new level of interdisciplinary research and teaching that advances human health and wellness across individual, community, and global contexts. By fostering collaboration across disciplines, the college supports innovative, large-scale research initiatives and integrated educational programs that span the full continuum of care and health promotion.

The college includes the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Faculty of Nursing, the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, the School of Public Health, and the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Together, these units drive excellence in health sciences education, research, and clinical innovation, supporting the university’s broader mission to lead in discovery, learning, and the advancement of societal well-being for the decade ahead and beyond.

  • Provides policy and procedural expertise and information to instructors and staff on administrative and academic matters involving disciplinary investigations.

  • Provides policy and procedural information to students regarding disciplinary investigations; refers students to the Office of Student Ombuds and other University services (including Helping Individuals at Risk) as appropriate.

  • Prepares confidential case files for disciplinary investigations for the Faculty Decision Maker (FDM) in Student Academic Integrity Policy (SAIP) investigations and provides administrative support for the investigation process (e.g. scheduling meetings).

  • Tracks appeal deadlines and initiates changes of grade to reflect sanctions imposed by the FDM.

  • Prepares confidential documentation packages for the FDM for student academic discipline appeals in accordance with the procedures of the University Appeal Board (UAB).

  • Works with the Registrar’s Office to ensure that sanctions imposed by the FDM are reflected accurately on the student’s transcript and other academic records, including tracking the date that sanctions should be removed from the transcript.

  • Responsible for the delivery of disciplinary decisions to the student and other recipients as outlined in the SAIP.

  • Manages Discipline Case Files including retaining of files as per Document Retention Schedule.

  • Maintains and facilitates the use of discipline case management systems (e.g. Symplicity Advocate).

  • Creates, updates and maintains College of Health Sciences (CHS) templates and forms.

  • Collects statistics regarding Disciplinary cases and creates reports regarding these cases for stakeholder groups including Faculties, FDMs, and the broader College community.

  • Support the College Office of Education to develop College-specific academic integrity educational programming.

  • Provides support to CHS faculties with non SAIP cases when time permits.

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field. Completed education in Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, Law, Social Sciences, and Certification in Conflict Resolution are assets.

  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • A minimum of two years of experience in a similar role, interpreting and applying institutional polices and procedures, preferably in an academic or regulatory environment.

  • Two years of experience providing policy guidance to staff, faculty, and students.

  • Ability to support educational programming related to academic integrity or student conduct

  • Working knowledge of University policies and procedures, including the Student Academic Integrity Policy.

  • Experience managing confidential material in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and able to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with professionalism.

  • Strong analytical skills to resolve complex administrative issues.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

  • Adept at creating reports and presentations for diverse audiences, including faculty, administrators, and committees.

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with students and staff who may be in crisis and refer to appropriate services.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft (Campus Solutions) and file management systems (Symplicity Advocate) is an asset.

  • Strong collaborative skills, proven experience working well in a diverse team-oriented setting with multiple partners.
