Position SummaryReporting to the Head Librarian, the Collections Manager is an out-of-scope position leading the development and stewardship of print, digital, and archival collections. This role ensures collections reflect community needs, support programming, and preserve local heritage. The position provides leadership in acquisitions, cataloguing, digital resources, and archives, supervising staff responsible for collections while exercising authority within approved budgets. Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic & Operational Management: Develop long-term collection strategies, analyze performance trends, and recommend budget reallocations. Manage acquisitions, cataloguing, and deselection workflow across all formats. Digital & Public Services: Manage eResources, databases, and metadata platforms. Archives & Local History: Manage the organization, preservation, and accessibility of archival and local history materials. Maintain finding aids and digital archives. Lead staff in assisting researchers with inquiries and ensuring proper preservation practices. Staff Leadership: Supervise assigned staff, including administering the collective agreement. Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations to foster a positive, accountable service culture. QualificationsMaster's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.Experience in collection development, cataloguing, metadata, and/or archival work.Ability to obtain a clean criminal record check.Key CompetenciesCollection Strategy, Data Assessment & CataloguingArchives & Preservation
