The Vehicle Quality Equipment Services team is a multidisciplinary group comprising maintenance, engineering, equipment quality, and Line End Tester (LET) specialists. Collaborating across Vehicle Quality in both plants, the team offers numerous opportunities for skill development and mutual support.
About the Role
The LET Specialist focuses on the Line End Tester, a custom-built device that communicates with vehicle computers. Used at the end of Assembly and in Vehicle Quality, the LET checks the functionality of the vehicle’s electrical and mechanical systems. With the rapid advancement of vehicle technologies, the systems and technologies you will work on will continuously evolve, providing exciting learning opportunities.
Salary Range: $82,498 - $96,044 annually plus bonus
Responsibilities
- Address mass production quality and delivery concerns related to LET
- Design vehicle inspection methods and create inspection software specifications for mechanical and electrical systems
- Understand new model change points related to LET
- Study and understand new vehicle technologies for Civic & CR-V
- Drive continuous improvement through inter-departmental theme activities using problem-solving methods (Plan, Do, Check, Action (PDCA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), 4 Elements for Production - Man, Machine, Material and Method (4M), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Daily communication with affected groups both within and outside of HCM
- Contribute to the regional and global LET organization
- Change management associated with regulatory compliance
- Support other groups within Equipment Services, including engineering, maintenance, and equipment quality
- Monitor the condition of the LET units and repair and maintain as needed
- Support new model build events
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education or equivalent work experience relating to computer science, electronics, quality assurance, or engineering
Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel
- Required Skills
- Hands-on approach to project work and troubleshooting of production problems
- Capable of balancing and prioritizing work requests while also supporting other team members
- Any experience with Honda LETs
- Understanding of vehicle communication systems: Controller Area Network (CAN), Local Interconnect Network (LIN), K-Line Network (K-LINE)
- Computer networking experience
- Understanding of vehicle functions and features
- Proven complex problem-solving experience with a change-point management viewpoint
- Software development and/or database query experience
- Experience with E-Flow and project management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with production departments
- Understanding of new model development and new technology
- Working with large datasets (pivot tables, trending, etc.)
- Experience creating Structured Query Language (SQL) queries
- Creating and debugging Excel macros
- Strong engineering mindset approach
- Demonstrated success in a team environment
Job-related must-haves:
- Willing and able to travel internationally or in North America by possessing a Canadian passport or B1 Visa
- Must have a valid G/G2 Driver's License
- Willing and able to work weekends and or overtime, sometimes on short notice
- Willing and able to work shutdown periods
- Willing and able to support occasional 2nd and/or 3rd shifts if required
Pay range and compensation package:
Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) provides a competitive salary structure and starting wage based on previous, related experience. Additionally, HCM provides a Team Achievement Bonus paid two times per year; an industry-leading Defined Contribution (DC) pension that includes company contributions and company matching; and a comprehensive benefit plan that provides choice and flexibility with the cost subsidized by company contributions. HCM also provides shift premiums of 5% for the afternoon shift and 10% for the overnight shift.
