Description of the Position:

The Manager, Event Marketing, is responsible for leading the development and execution of the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) fundraising strategy for the Event Marketing portfolio, while providing guidance to the P2P Fundraising team. They will develop compelling event marketing communications, recruitment, engagement, and retention strategies for P2P Events that will drive revenue and donor loyalty. The Event Marketing portfolio includes but is not limited to SickKids Walk for SickKids.

The Manager ensures the integration of our core values and donor-centered orientation to achieve the SickKids Foundation’s mission, vision and values.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead the development and execution of the event marketing campaigns under the leadership of the Associate Director.

  • Act as the Project Manager for all P2P marketing activities within the portfolio.

  • Develop and manage an effective participant communication strategy for P2P Events including e-mail, social media, blogs, SMS, phone calls, etc.

  • Create compelling content for communications that aligns with fundraising campaigns to drive engagement, recruitment and revenue.

  • Lead the development, execution and ongoing refinement of the Corporate Challenge program, working in close collaboration with the Corporate Partnerships team.

  • Develop and execute stakeholder specific recruitment, fundraising, stewardship and retention strategies for various groups including corporate teams, staff, and mass participants.

  • Develop and execute a champion strategy to increase P2P fundraising outcomes from mass participants.

  • Establish goals, tactics, and metrics, and regularly monitor and report results to key stakeholders.

  • Build meaningful and effective relationships with select event participants, team captains, donors, volunteers and sponsors, providing excellent customer service, coaching and stewardship while strategically identifying ways to maximize fundraising results.

  • Develop text and call plans and scripting throughout event campaigns, and lead team in execution providing oversight, guidance and coaching.

  • Develop suitable incentive offers to drive registration and fundraising.

  • Provide input to development of marketing plans, materials and fundraising tools.

  • Prepare presentations and other documents for internal and external stakeholders and deliver campaign performance presentations to key stakeholder groups including corporate teams and sponsors as needed.

  • Identify and capitalize on new avenues to broaden networks and establish relationships with potential event participants and donors to drive additional revenue.

  • Oversee development and execution of stewardship strategies for the Event Marketing portfolio across all involved foundation teams.

  • Manage event website content and updates, and act as a subject matter expert on registration/fundraising systems utilized for P2P events.

  • Accountable for assessing operational processes and recommend improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Identify areas of opportunity for functional improvements, and ensure timely resolution of system issues that impact participant experience or revenue generation.

  • Work collaboratively with various Foundation teams to build strong relationships to deliver successful P2P events.

  • Collaborate with other fundraising teams to identify opportunities for donor migration.

  • Ensure participant, donor and volunteer activities are recorded in the relationship database.

  • Act as a P2P event marketing subject matter expert for the Foundation.

Qualifications:

While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role:

  • 5+ years of not-for-profit event fundraising or communications experience

  • Strong project management skills and ability to effectively delegate

  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in the area of peer-to-peer fundraising

  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills

  • Superior presentation, writing and editing skills and ability to convey compelling stories and messages that are tailored to unique stakeholder groups.

  • Demonstrate strong client/customer service orientation with the ability to understand and respond to various levels of expectations from diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience with financial reporting and budget management.

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with various timelines and handle competing, changing priorities.

  • Proactive problem solver, solution-oriented, displays sound decision-making and judgment.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Demonstrates initiative, resourcefulness, creativity and flexibility.

  • Excellent computer and database skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote etc.).

  • Experience with relational databases and online fundraising platforms (e.g. CRM systems such as Razor’s Edge; fundraising platforms such as Funraisin, etc.).

  • High energy, enthusiastic and passionate about events and fundraising.

  • University Degree or Community College Diploma with a focus in fundraising, sales, communications, event management or other applicable disciplines.

Total Compensation Package:

Expected Hiring Salary Range: $82,064 – $102,582; with the ability to progress to a maximum of $117,971.00. To ensure fair and equitable pay at SickKids Foundation, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the Manager, Event Marketing.

Position Status: Temporary Full-Time Contract (14-months)

Hours: Hybrid work model: minimum two days per week in-office (Tuesday and Wednesday).
