The Manager - Finance and Accounting will oversee the accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger accounting functions. The individual will also oversee financial reporting, process improvement, business partnering, compliance and audit, and other duties and responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operation of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting
  • Work with direct reports to determine objectives and set goals for each year, and provide ongoing training and development to the team.
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reports.
  • Maintain & monitor the company’s quarterly forecasting / yearly budget process.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian GAAP, ASPE, tax regulations, and internal controls.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and variance analysis.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to improve operations and efficiency.
  • Manage insurance administration and claims.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance and Accounting team to enhance technical skills and performance.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team to provide financial insight for decision-making.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust internal control framework to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.
  • Support the F&A team with workflow process improvement and pursuing special projects.
  • Lead or support ERP upgrades, automation initiatives, or digital transformation projects within Finance.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • CPA is preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a portion of it being in a supervisory role, including AR, AP, Capex, and General Accounting with medium to large manufacturing companies.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Oracle ERP).
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools like Advanced Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and best practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Physical Effort :

Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 5kg/11lbs

Ability to Work From Home : Yes – Hybrid, 2 days WFH
