Position Summary We are seeking a skilled CNC and Manual Lathe Operator to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, setting up, and maintaining both manual and CNC machines to produce high-quality precision parts according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and efficiency.
This position is 100% on-site at 2 Walker Drive, Brampton
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain manual and CNC lathes, milling machines, and other related equipment.
- Follow production schedules and job orders provided by the supervisor.
- Review blueprints, technical drawings, and samples to ensure accurate dimensions and specifications.
- Take precise measurements and select appropriate tools, fixtures, and cutting speeds.
- Set up machines, adjust feeds and speeds, and monitor performance during operation.
- Conduct quality checks on completed parts, ensuring they meet required tolerances.
- Identify and correct defects; maintain production logs and documentation.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and minor repairs as required.
- Operate overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment safely.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in compliance with company standards and safety policies.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily production goals.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience operating CNC and manual lathes and milling machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, coordination, and troubleshooting skills.
- Skilled in measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Proficient in mathematics (geometry, trigonometry, and measurements).
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to quality.
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and the use of PPE.
- Able to operate an overhead crane safely (training or certification an asset).
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ years of experience operating CNC and/or manual lathes.
- Experience in a manufacturing or machining environment preferred.
- Apprenticeship or vocational training in machining or mechanical trades is an asset.
- Basic understanding of CNC programming (G-code) is an advantage.
