We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our Information & Communication Technology team. The Systems Architect provides senior technical expertise for the broad range of strategic integrated systems deployed within Yukon government’s corporate IT infrastructure. This position advances YG towards a citizen centric, open-data technology architecture vision by leading consultation and collaboration with clients across YG and developing continuously evolving technology infrastructure plans that meet business needs and drive IT facilitated innovation in government departments. This position specializes in supporting YG’s network infrastructure and improves the enterprise technology and networking architecture that will enable our vision.
The Information and Communications Technology Division of Highways and Public Works supports Yukon government’s evolving use of technology. We take time to understand how our clients do business, so we can help them deliver public services as efficiently as possible.

- Experience working with IT security testing programs (e.g. vulnerability assessments and manual testing techniques);
- Experience configuring, implementing and maintaining security testing tools;
- Experience with applications technical support, troubleshooting and analysis, problem resolution, service availability and reliability improvement roles;
- Experience with IT security-related audits and Security Threat Risk Assessments.
- Security-based professional qualification (e.g. CISSP, Security+, CEH) will be considered an asset.
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
Desired Knowledge, Skills And Suitability The ideal candidate will possess these qualifications, skills and knowledge, but also demonstrate suitability for the role and organizational culture. Key competencies for success in this role include:
- Experience researching, recommending and implementing changes to procedures and systems to enhance application and systems security;
- Knowledge of current security regulations, advisories, alerts and vulnerabilities;
- Ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders;
- Strong team building, supervisory, consultation and facilitation skills;
- Effective verbal and written communication skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Job Requirements This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following job requirements:
- Travel throughout the territory
