As a Security Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Corporate Security's Security Systems, comprised of applications and network-attached devices, used primarily for access control and surveillance of City-owned buildings and facilities, and the Public Safety Network. Primary duties include:
- Maintain Security Systems; Manage back end applications and servers (application specific, and Windows and Windows Server Operating Systems).
- Perform database administration of back end data (Structured Query Language (SQL) Server and Oracle) ensuring accuracy of data maintain end-devices (firmware and configurations).
- Support integrations that bridge communication between applications; may involve scripting in application specific Software Development Kits, or applications coding (C#, C++, Java).
- Provide advice on infrastructure changes, installations and capital projects. Provide application support to end-users of applications. Troubleshoot device failures; and network, application and server related issues. Respond to service work orders from Information Technology and Corporate Security Technical Operations.
- Install servers and workstations, install and configure operating systems (Windows 10 and Windows Server Editions), System BIOS (firmware, RAID Storage), network settings and application specific installation requirements (drivers, supported frameworks, etc.).
- Responsible for tracking asset information, audit and log systems faults or performance issues, document process and training guides for clients.
Qualifications
- A completed 2 year diploma in Information Technology, Database Administration/Management, Network Engineering, Network Security, Software Development, Telecommunications or related field and at least 3 years of related work experience in physical security, security system integration, or information technology.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License and a personal vehicle (suitable for transporting computer equipment and appropriately insured) is required.
- Technical certification in physical security systems are considered assets (for example Lenel Access Control, Milestone, Genetec CCTV, IndigoVision CCTV, AMAG Access Control or C-Cure 8000/9000 Access Control).
- Professional certifications in networking, server or database administration, examples such as: Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), VMware Certified Professional (VCP), CompTIA A+, CompTIA Project+, CompTIA Server+, Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) are also considered assets.
- Application support experience and a high level of IT troubleshooting experience will be considered assets.
- Success in this position requires well developed analytical and problem solving skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

- A security clearance will be conducted.
- Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
