Cambrian Credit Union is currently seeking aSenior Programmerto join our team!
TheSenior Programmeris responsible for the day-to-day guidance and support of the Software Development team to ensure quality and on-time project delivery. In addition, theSenior Programmeris responsible to develop, test, debug, document, support, and maintain software applications ranging in scope from minor fixes to complex application enhancements, which encompass the core banking system and other applications.
In the role of**Senior Programmer,**you will:
- Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and mentoring to programmers to ensure quality, consistency, successful project delivery and adherence to corporate and coding standards.
- Partner with Vice-President, Solutions Architecture & Software Development and Manager, IT Software Development to complete monthly one-on-ones, team development, and workload planning. Contribute to annual performance reviews.
- Develop, test, troubleshoot, and debug programs utilizing the approved hardware, database, and programming technologies.
- Collaborate with business analysts to research, develop, test, and deliver software solutions.
- Transform software designs and specifications into high functioning code that is easy to read, extendable, and adheres to secure coding practices.
- Plan architecture of databases including table structures, relationships, triggers, indexes and performance.
- Prepare code for production environment; be on standby for production installs.
- Maintain and modify programs; recommend changes, develop detailed programming logic and coding changes.
- Maintain and support QA, training, and production environments.
- Stay abreast of current technologies through corporate training initiatives.
- Maintain databases including growth, indexing and purging.
- Provide other support as deemed necessary or required by the Manager, IT Software Development.
Your Education & Experience:
- Post secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Computer Science / Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of programming experience
- Previous experience in the financial services industry, considered an asset
- Proficient using Microsoft technologies (SQL, WPF, ASP.NET), perform object-oriented programming analysis and design (C#), write code adhering to a prescribed design (MVVM, MVC, SOLID)
- Previous experience using WBDK framework, considered an asset
- Experience with the following technologies considered an asset: JAVA 7, Objective-C, React and NodeJS
- Ability to deliver high quality, thoroughly tested software that meets programming standards (functional and unit tests, testing scripts)
- Ability to work within a prescribed development process (Agile, SCRUM, code reviews)
- Strong communicator, with a development focused approach to coaching others and providing feedback
- Creative thinker/ problem solver, with a member-centred approach and strong drive to continuously improve and add value to the business
- Ability to work well in a diverse environment with multiple and often changing priorities
