Environmental Specialist CA1
About the role
Under direct supervision of a registered professional engineer, performs basic engineering-related tasks in support of the creation of basic water and waste water treatment facilities, water and sewer systems, pipelines, pump stations, remediation sites, solid waste facilities, etc. engineering-related designs to meet client project requirements. Reviews draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Ensures that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Performs site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updates design requirements as necessary. Performs water quality analyses and modeling. Contributes to firm's TKM by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Submits technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Performs other duties as required. May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference. Note: All engineering-related work is reviewed and approved by a registered professional engineer.
- Position is located at the Annacis Island Wastewater Treatment Plant (AIWWTP) to work on the AIWWTP Construction Control and Safety Coordination Project.
- Coordinate construction projects occurring at the AIWWTP with plant operations and maintenance activities to minimize conflicts among projects for site access, system(s) shut down and tie-in activities.
- Review TRFs (Task Requisition Forms) submitted by contractors and engage AIWWTP plant staff for input, prepare response to TRFs.
- Act as the communication conduit between the contractors and plant staff for coordinating construction activities that impact plant’s operations.
- Provide coordination support including site coordination, lead in efforts to minimize overlaps between construction activities, as well as minimize impacts of construction activities to plant’s operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental or Chemical Engineering or related discipline. 0 years. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to register within 12 months of hire as EIT are preferred.
