**Job Title:**Payroll & Benefits Specialist
**Reports To:**HR Manager
**Location:**Calgary, AB
**Position Summary:**The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering payroll and benefits for all Canadian employees (350+). The successful candidate will be a self-starter who can take accountability and is driven by continuous growth and development. The ideal candidate will have previous payroll administration experience (Canada) with exposure and working knowledge with UKG (Kronos).

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Processes payroll for Canadian salaried and hourly employees
- Implements, maintains and reviews payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, taxes, and other deductions for payroll
- Investigates, reviews and recommends enhancements for process changes
- Manages employee administration for all benefits transactions including health & dental, HSA, etc.
- Manages and administers all employee leaves related but not limited to disability (STD & LTD), WCB & SUB
- Ensures compliance with federal, provincial and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, employment standards and best practices
- Contributes to the accuracy and integrity of the payroll function within the company and responds to employee and department enquiries as they relate to payroll
- Manages internal and external audit requests
- Processes year end reconciliation including balancing T4s and issuing electronically to the CRA
- Maintains electronic personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements
- Prepares appropriate reports/billings on an ongoing basis
- Works with HR team to identify gaps in internal processes, procedures and documentation and make recommendations to assist with process improvement
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
Who We’re Looking For:
- Post-secondary education (diploma or degree) in Human Resources, Business or related area
- Minimum five years job-related experience, preferably in an environment that supported Western Canada
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) Certificate or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) (completed or in progress) considered an asset
- Experience in UKG (Kronos) and the impact of stock based compensation on payroll considered an asset
- Familiarity with local, provincial, and federal laws as they pertain to Human Resources/Payroll
- Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software applications
- Excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills
- Excellent telephone and oral communication skills

- Effective customer service skills both in person and over the phone to employees, participants and other internal/external stakeholders as required

Source is a fully integrated producer, supplier, and distributor of high quality frac sand, primarily to the WCSB. Source provides its customers with a full end-to-end solution through its Wisconsin mines and processing facilities, its Domestic sand mine in Peace River, its unit train capable rail assets, its strategically located transload terminal network, and its "last-mile" logistics capabilities. Source's full-service approach allows customers to rely on its logistics capabilities to increase reliability of supply and to ensure the timely delivery of their growing frac sand requirements. Source owns and operates a Northern White frac sand mine and related closed-loop wet processing plant located in east-central Barron County near the town of Sumner, Wisconsin, a Northern White frac sand mine and related closed-loop wet processing plant, which includes three washing circuits, dry processing plant and unit train capable loadout facility, located near Blair, Wisconsin , a dry processing plant, storage and loadout facility located in Weyerhaeuser, Wisconsin, and a Northern White frac sand mine and related closed-loop wet processing plant, dry processing plant, and loadout facility, located near Blair, Wisconsin. Early in 2022, Source assumed all operations, distribution, and sale of domestic frac sand from a facility in Peace River, AB. This transaction provided Source with the opportunity to integrate Peace River frac sand into Source's leading distribution network resulting in low-cost production with significant logistical advantage and ensures efficiency of supply for our customers while expanding the company's footprint and product offerings as well.
