Enterostomal Therapist (N3)
About the role
Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
The incumbent is responsible for assisting the Coordinator with the planning and implementation of an effective rehabilitation program for the person undergoing ostomy surgery including: consultation, patient care, teaching and discharge planning.
The incumbent is also responsible for assisting with the management of external fistulae requiring a method of drainage collection and the management of pressure sores, arterial and venous stasis ulcers and diabetic ulcers.
The incumbent may be consulted to patients with a variety of complex skin and wound care needs outside of those listed above.
Experience
- Candidates must have three (3) years of full-time employment in a clinically relevant area of Practice.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Graduate of an approved School of Nursing, required.
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
- Successful completion of an accredited Enterostomal Therapy Program required. Candidates willing to commit to successfully completing this program within two years of hire date into this position will be considered.
- Commitment to self‑development through nursing continuing education programs and demonstrated potential for teaching and supervision.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
- Current registration with the Canadian Association for Enterostomal Therapy (C.A.E.T.)
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the Employer policy.
Qualifications and Skills
- Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA).
- Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions and values.
