About the role
As a Solution Architect, you will define cloud solutions, establish cloud migration strategies, participate in request-for-proposal (RFP) efforts, and support technical teams. This role requires a strong understanding of current market trends and technologies in cloud, excellent stakeholder management, and broad IT experience to drive client satisfaction and transformation.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Architecture, Design & Project Delivery
- Design comprehensive cloud infrastructure solutions that address client requirements and follow industry best practices.
- Architect secure-by-design solutions, implementing Zero Trust principles and ensuring alignment with compliance standards (HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR).
- Develop detailed architecture diagrams, including network topologies, compute resources, storage solutions, and security configurations in public cloud environments.
- Provide hands-on expertise and advisory support for successful cloud infrastructure deployments.
- Define and enforce DevSecOps standards, ensuring Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices are integrated into deployment pipelines.
- Conduct in-depth current-state assessments of public cloud environments, identifying areas for improvement and delivering clear recommendations and roadmaps.
- Maintain a registry of architectural requirements, risks, and decisions.
Cloud Migration
- Perform thorough cloud migration assessments and define tailored migration strategies based on workload characteristics and business requirements.
- Contribute to the development of optimized cloud migration plans and timelines.
- Provide technical leadership for cloud migration squads and clients.
- Lead client technical discussions and guide small migration teams.
RFP Response
- Review and interpret RFP documents to understand client technical and business requirements related to public cloud.
- Conduct discovery sessions with stakeholders to clarify ambiguous requirements and collect additional information.
- Document proposed solutions clearly and concisely.
- Create detailed cost estimates, including bills of materials and effort estimates for cloud project delivery.
- Write clear and persuasive technical proposals that effectively communicate solution benefits in response to RFP requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams -including account delivery, security, and delivery units -to develop compelling proposals.
- Present proposed solutions to clients and address technical questions and concerns.
- Contribute to maintaining a library of RFP/RFI responses.
Cloud Practice Contribution
- Actively participate in Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) activities, contributing to strategy, KPIs, and execution.
- Implement FinOps strategies to optimize cloud spend, resource utilization, and operational efficiency.
- Drive asset reusability by contributing to cloud accelerators, reusable architectural blueprints, and reference architectures.
- Define observability strategies (logging, metrics, tracing) to ensure operational health and rapid incident response.
- Serve as a technical mentor, promoting continuous learning and upskilling among junior architects and engineers within the CCoE.
- Develop white papers and case studies showcasing successful cloud deployments and outcomes.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Minimum ten (10) years of proven experience in the information technology field, working closely with stakeholders or customers.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in cloud infrastructure architecture, design, and implementation for large-scale deployments adhering to industry compliance standards.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience building client proposals (RFP/RFI) and presenting solutions to stakeholders or customers.
- Experience documenting Statements of Work (SOWs) and proposals.
- Experience creating templates and frameworks for common cloud deployment models and cloud migrations.
- Expert-level proficiency in at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Intermediate proficiency in a second major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Strong experience with modern application platforms (Kubernetes, AKS, EKS, GKE, OpenShift, Docker, serverless, PaaS).
- Solid understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation languages (Python, Go, PowerShell, or Bash) to support IaC and Policy-as-Code initiatives.
- Knowledge of TOGAF or similar architecture frameworks.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Extensive business acumen, technical knowledge, and industry experience.
- Critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to articulate goals and provide constructive feedback.
- Strong team player with a positive attitude and growth mindset.
- Ability to collaborate with internal teams, partners, and clients.
- Adaptive and flexible to evolving client or business requirements.
- Bilingual (English and French).
Education and Certification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

At least one (1) expert-level cloud architect certification.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $90,000–$140,000. This role is aa future opportunity.
