Job Description WSP is currently initiating a search for an Aviation Building Project Manager! This position sits out of our Durham, NC office.

This Opportunity With the intimacy of a small group of staff, along with the support of a large firm, this is an excellent and unique opportunity for the right candidate to challenge themselves and to grow their career.

Our goal is to team with our agency clients and to develop solutions to the complex challenge of advancing aviation design and project management throughout the region. This position is anticipated to support design and project management efforts within the Raleigh-Durham area, servicing aviation and transit related projects.

The candidate will assist in providing project management services and oversight for a variety of architectural and aviation building design and construction projects. Responsibilities include management of consultants and contractors, procurement support, construction oversight, as well as a range of other responsibilities needed to ensure the successful outcome of projects.

This position is contingent upon WSP being selected for a contract or program we’re currently pursuing.

Your Impact Duties And Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including airport authorities, airlines, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry partners.
  • Providing project management services and oversight for a variety of architectural and aviation building design and construction projects.
  • Managing consultants and contractors, procurement support, and construction oversight.
  • Coordinating with the Client’s planning and capital development departments to ensure schedules are aligned and deadlines are met.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate concisely both verbally and in written form.
  • Ability to solve problems and manage budgets.
  • Collaborate with other Business Units to develop and deliver a ‘OneWSP’ service offering to aviation clients.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

  • Assist in coordinating and executing high profile type projects with business impact
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, subcontractors, and building authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded buildings, infrastructure, and development projects.

Who You Are Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Construction Management, or closely related discipline.
  • 7+ years of relevant post education experience in the learned discipline/industry.
  • Registered Architect in NC is a plus.
  • Proficient knowledge of project planning and budgeting, and project management best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawing standards and building codes, including fire, electric, energy, utilities, ADA, egress, and associated permitting.
  • Familiarity and experience with Airport and Aviation projects.
  • Solid understanding of architectural tools (AutoCAD, REVIT, Bluebeam, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail and highly organized.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and able to multi-task.
  • Ability to work schedules is conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Accountable, reliable, trustworthy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in architecture is preferred.
  • Aviation and Transit architecture related experience.
  • Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred.
  • Registered Architect in NC is considered a plus.
