Position: Operations Supervisor– Kamloops
Hours: Monday to Friday 10:00AM start time
Position Overview:
Working independently with some guidance from the DSD Operations Manager, manages and directs all aspects of the Kamloops DSD operation along with managing full trailer load movements for Linehaul division. This includes handling freight and deliveries for BDL, OK Spring and the LDB. Responsibilities have considerable impact on the efficient operations of his/her own and other areas, and may influence the Organization’s long-term reputation and overall standing in the industry.
What will you do as an Operations Supervisor?
Daily routing and load management of DSD deliveries
- Review volume and build efficient routes
- Maintain master delivery schedules
- Coordinate delivery activities with 3rd Party carrier in Prince George
Support to linehaul
- Provide resources for trailer placement and pick up
- Manifest outbound loads
- Deal with drivers and equipment issues.
Manpower planning and scheduling.
- Ensure proper staffing levels
- Vacation planning
- Staff recruitment
Equipment and building maintenance
- Ensure all scheduled maintenance is completed
- Ensure building security is place and operational
Ensure compliance to policies, practices and performance
Oversees day to day activities monitoring performance and compliance.
- Supervise, redirect and discipline hourly employees as required
- Actively participate in O.H.& S. Program
Ensure loading and unloading activity in the Warehouse is executed to plan
- Oversee Crossdock activity
- Operate liftruck if required (Certification required)
What are we looking for?

Some post-secondary courses plus 2 to 3 years related experience, or Specialist Certification/Diploma
-
Judgment exercised to choose from a variety of alternatives to best meet internal and external customer needs.

Problem solving involves independent analysis of readily available facts and identification of alternative courses of action when looking for the most cost-effective routing and scheduling.

Creative problem solving is required to execute assigned work to ensure all customer load requirements are met on a daily basis.

This position provides input to budgets and input on priorities and policies directly affecting their immediate area/department.

Verbal and written communication can be internal or external and information often requires clarification and may include basic direction, instructions or presentation to others.

Equipment breakdown/late arriving inbound loads can create challenges for routing and scheduling.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Word
-
Understanding of Transportation regulations and familiarity with transport equipment specifications and applications.
