Position Summary Storesperson, Materials Management Your goal in this position is to be responsible for the receiving of goods, inspection, verification, storage, control and distribution of all supplies/equipment for Materials Management. You will ensure the distribution and re-ordering of supplies to the end-user departments, will include, the receiving of incoming shipments; receiving, coordinating and making arrangement for shipments that are sensitive and/or shipments requiring special attention; delivering sensitive parcels, priority and other designated items to areas throughout the hospital, working closely with Buyers, end-users and vendors/couriers to exchange information and ensure the smooth delivery of shipments. You have experience with Shipping and Receiving of physical goods as well as experience in a computerized Logistics Environment, with preference for SAP. You are able to work independently, with exceptional problem solving and interpersonal skills. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers , learners, patients and families.

On a practical level, you will

  • Receive incoming shipments of various item
  • Act as Liaison between Unit Administrators and Logistics Manager
  • Use SAP ECC to post goods Receipt, retrieve destination location, and verify against Purchase order
  • Match goods received with packing slips to ensure the hospital is in receipt of goods ordered and that goods are accounted for
  • Receive, coordinate and make arrangements for shipments that are sensitive and/or required special attention
  • Make note of shipments with highly sensitive times
  • Identify problem/special shipments
  • Contact end-users to obtain necessary information, inform end-users of package situation, make arrangements to expedite shipments
  • Work and communicate regularly with incoming vendors and couriers
  • Perform count for weekly Medical Gas Order
  • Deliver priority items, sensitive parcels and other designated items throughout the hospital
  • Work closely with Logistics Manager, Supervisor and Buyers in Purchasing Department to exchange information and ensure delivery of shipments
  • Identify problem shipments and report them to Manager and appropriate Buyer who issued the Purchase order
  • Contacts couriers and vendors, as required to rectify problem
  • Make arrangements for the pick-up of problem shipments
  • Perform other duties consistent with the Receiver function, including, answering phone calls, locking/closing Stores department at 4pm etc.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, with additional courses and training in Inventory Control, Logistics or Supply Chain Management would be an asset
  • Logistics/Material Management certificate (CPIM) would be an asset
  • Minimum two years’ experience with a computerized warehouse inventory system
  • Experience with Shipping and Receiving
  • Bilingualism in French/ English an asset
