Reports to: Corporate Food Safety Systems Manager

As a Corporate Food Safety Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical and compliance aspects of food safety systems across all manufacturing plants. This role focuses on system development, regulatory compliance, auditing, and continuous improvement to support operational requirements manufacturing plants.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct annual HACCP reviews and reassessments with cross-functional teams
  • Audit, monitor, schedule, and validate HACCP system results
  • Work on optimizing CIP systems to enhance efficiency and compliance
  • Participate in food safety meetings to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to corporate and regulatory food safety and quality requirements related to chemical management
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and customer food safety requirements through proactive communication and system monitoring
  • Identify opportunities for process and system improvements related to food safety and quality
  • Schedule cleaning and allergen validation activities, train site teams, and generate related reports and trends
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements for food safety programs are met
  • Assist in the qualification of equipment to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards
  • Develop and maintain HACCP and pre-requisite programs
  • Participate in and coordinate regulatory audits
  • Support internal audits to ensure compliance with food safety standards
  • Participate in the preparation of plant tours and audits to support regulatory and customer requirements
  • Assist with various projects related to food safety, regulatory compliance, process improvement, and team engagement
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and continuously improve the corporate FSQA program
  • Maintain strict GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
  • Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
  • Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field is required
  • 2-4 years of experience in food manufacturing, safety, and occupational health is required
  • Knowledge of thermal processes, electronic historians and ERP systems is a desirable skill
  • Proficient computer skills, (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel), and instructional software
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with all levels of management
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Ability to assess situations and escalate issues as needed
  • Good knowledge of the food environment, food safety systems and the related regulatory requirements (CFIA, Health Canada, USDA, FDA)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • NB: Successful candidates will be required to provide photo ID, banking details, a valid SIN number, and (if applicable) a valid work permit
