About the role
General Purpose:
The Grain Receiver is responsible for the unloading, blending, the transfer of grain, Quality Control testing and sanitation of the grain receiving areas.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sample, analyze, weigh and unload grain trucks and railcars.
- Measures grain bins as directed by the supervisor.
- Ensures all grain blends and transfers are from the correct bins to the designated bin(s) at previously determined blend rates and/or protein range.
- Ensure railcar test results match 3rd party grading prior to unloading.
- Ensure any questionable results concerning observations or odors are investigated and reported to the supervisor prior to unloading.
- Ensure grain specifications are met.
- Ensure all required grain unloading documentation is completed daily.
- Generate LRR’s in a timely manner.
- Prepare grain lot composites daily and maintain sample storage area.
- Ensure blend/transfer sheets are done and appropriate adjustments are made to the Grain Lot Code report.
- Ensure accurate lot code information is entered on the Grain Lot Code report for blends and specialty transfers to the mill in a timely manner.
- Clean and maintain daily the grain receiving and grain bin areas and the lab.
- Assist and perform grain equipment maintenance, perform cleaning of all chutes/bin drops.
- Assist in lab milling sample testing and preparation.
- Report all leaks or malfunctions in the grain receiving/bin areas to the supervisor and to Maintenance.
- Assist in improving the efficiency and safety of the overall grain unloading/blending/transferring operation. Operates company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
- Is aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability.
- Responsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety standards.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing job duties and tasks.
- Performs all other related duties and assignments, including training, as required.
Qualifications**:**
- Grade 12 or equivalent with proven mathematical aptitude.
- Demonstrated computer skills with an aptitude for computerized electronics.
- Self-motivated team player with a strong work ethic.
- Above average interpersonal and communication skills to work with internal and external customers.
- Maintain internal forklift license.
- Ability to work in stressful situations and to positively face challenges and solve problems.
- Available for shift work as well as work on weekends, holidays and call outs as required.
