About the role
Overview:
As the HR Intern on our HR Business Partnerships team, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in assisting the HR Business Partner (HRBP) team with day‑to‑day people operations, employee relations coordination, workforce planning activities, and policy support.
This role is ideal for a new or recent university graduate who is interested in developing foundational HRBP skills and gaining exposure to strategic and operational HR work.
The intern will collaborate with HR Business Partners and leaders to support employee lifecycle activities, HR programs, and data-driven decision-making. This is a hands‑on learning opportunity designed to build confidence, judgment, and capability in core HRBP competencies.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with HRBPs to identify processes requiring formal documentation and collaborate with cross functional HR team members to develop clear, accurate process materials.
- Support the review of organizational structures and position descriptions, identifying required updates and preparing recommendations for HRBP review.
- Process position related transactions (creation, updates, inactivation) and act as the primary contact for all staff requisition processing on behalf of HRBPs.
- Assist with workforce data, reporting, and basic research (e.g., headcount, turnover, talent reviews).
- Help interpret and maintain HR policies, procedures, and compliance documentation.
- Support onboarding, offboarding, engagement, and change management activities.
- Manage confidential HR records and respond to routine employee inquiries.
Qualifications:
Education
- Recent or upcoming graduate from a post-secondary program in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Teams; HRIS/ATS experience is an asset.
