About the role
PURPOSE
The Sustainability Analyst reports to the Manager, Environmental, Social and Governance and is responsible for supporting the administration and delivery of the organization’s ESG programs, reporting, and related activities. The role is broad in scope and supports a range of Morguard’s ESG initiatives, including, but not limited to, corporate public disclosures, client reporting, implementation of programs aligned with Morguard’s ESG strategic framework, tenant and employee engagement, decarbonization and energy efficiency initiatives, community partnerships, greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting, and waste management programs. A key objective of this role is to ensure strong alignment between ESG priorities at Morguard’s properties and regional operations and the organization’s overarching ESG strategy, goals, targets, and programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESG Initiatives: Supports various assigned ESG initiatives and programs with property and corporate teams. These programs could be in areas such as energy and GHG management, waste management, tenant and employee engagement, green building certification, community engagement etc.
Sustainability Reporting: Administers and supports the data collection for and preparation of the annual ESG report. Assists and administers all other regular public and client reporting for sustainability, GRESB and decarbonization.
Internal Engagement: Assists with the ongoing implementation of engagement programs with internal and external stakeholders (client, corporate and property) to keep up to date on various ESG initiatives, goals, targets, plans and achievements that support the implementation of Morguard’s ESG strategy.
Research: Conducts research analyses, briefings, and reports on ESG and sustainability matters, with particular emphasis on new compliance reporting frameworks and evolving industry best practices. Carries out other duties and special projects assigned.
ESG Training: Assists in preparing ESG materials and supporting informational training sessions for corporate and property teams to ensure consistent understanding of ESG requirements and initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
Skills, Knowledge, Experience and Education
- College/University Degree in a relevant field (e.g. sustainability, engineering, science, business) or equivalent
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Familiarity with or ability to learn ESG reporting frameworks and sustainable design practices
