The Department of Internal Medicine - Hepatology invites applications for a Full-Time one-year term Postdoctoral Fellow or Research Associate, commencing as soon as possible, or on a date mutually agreed upon with the possibility of renewal. Salary and appointment level will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities:
The Research Associate will conduct independent research under the direction of Dr. Nabiha Faisal within her hepatology research program. The successful candidate will contribute and depending on appointment level, independently lead key research activities including grant writing, manuscript development, study proposal design, data analysis and research project coordination and management. Experience working with the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy (MCHP) and administrative health databases is considered a strong asset.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth in a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment with national and international collaborations.
Qualifications:
Postdoctoral Fellow:
-
PhD completed within the last 5 years in Epidemiology
-
Public Health/Community Health Sciences, Health Sciences, Biostatistics, Data Science, Population Health, or a closely related field.
-
Demonstrated research productivity, including publications and conference presentations. Strong skills in study design, data analysis, and academic writing.
-
Ability to work semi-independently in a collaborative research environment.
Research Associate:
PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health/Community Health Sciences, Health Sciences, Biostatistics, Data Science, Population Health, or a closely related field.
-
5+ years of progressively responsible experience in academic health research or research project management.
-
Demonstrated ability to lead research activities independently, including grant writing and manuscript preparation.
-
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications (for both levels):
-
Experience with clinical trials, ethics submissions, and regulatory compliance.
-
Familiarity with MCHP datasets and administrative health data.
-
Proficiency with research software such as REDCap, SAS, R, STATA, SPSS, NVivo. Knowledge of liver disease, transplantation, or health equity research.
