Position Summary

The Clinical Extern position will provide Nursing students with relevant experience in patient care while working in a collaborative team environment. Clinical Externs are unregulated health care providers and will work as part of an inter-professional team under supervision of regulated health care providers. The Clinical Extern collaborates with the team to provide excellent patient centered care.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Current students enrolled in a Level 2, 3 or 4 of the BScN program, or Semester 3 or 4 of a PN program recognized by the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with a variety of patient populations within a hospital setting
  • Demonstrated ability to follow BCHS policies and procedures to guide their clinical practice.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to lift using appropriate techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization
  • Criminal Record Check required
