The AMA is recruiting for the position of Technology Services Assistant. As a member of the Informatics and IT team, the Technology Services Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring that AMA initiatives are supported through entry-level technical and administrative support.

This is a temporary part‑time position (15 hours per week) with a six‑month term.

The AMA has a hybrid work environment. The successful candidate will be based out of our Edmonton office and will have the opportunity to work from home but will be required to go into the office or attend in person when required. Travel to and from office may be required

Team Overview

The ISG department is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s information systems needs. This includes hardware/software support, management of the corporate network, remote access to the network, internet services, information security, disaster recovery, data protection and application development.

###Position Overview

The technology services assistant provides entry-level technical and administrative support within the Information Technology department. This role assists with frontline helpdesk services, data entry, documentation, and hardware imaging. The position ensures timely resolution of basic technical issues, accurate record-keeping, and adherence to IT service management standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create documentation of IT environment, processes and procedures
    • Interview/meet with staff to clarify procedures for clarity of documentation
    • Update SharePoint with current information & documentation
    • Utilize diagramming tools such as MS Visio to support the visualization and documentation process.
  • Complete inventory of IT assets as needed
  • Movement and set up of desktop stations (monitors, docks, PC’s) and printers
  • Provide basic technical support for end-users (password resets, software installs, connectivity troubleshooting)
  • Support ‘how to’ service requests
  • Staff Onboard & Offboard support
  • Laptop replacement activities
  • Meeting set-up support (Videoconferencing)
  • Utilize Microsoft 365 and IT service management tools for documentation and support tasks

###Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in computer technology or related field.

###Skills

  • Microsoft productivity suite (SharePoint, Teams, Word, etc.)
  • Diagramming tools (Visio, etc)
  • Documentation & data entry
  • Communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Willingness to learn
  • Must be able to lift and carry office equipment
