The Service Estimator will interact with the Technical Service Manager, Service Manager and technicians based on customer location. Interact with customers throughout estimation process, while reporting progress to the Inspections Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate repair quotations based on findings from inspections and service work, collaborating with the service management team to determine parts and labor requirements for upgrades or complex repairs.

  • Utilize vendor portals, internal drawings, and historical estimates to prepare detailed quotes for complex repairs and replacements. Collaborate with engineering to develop design modifications as required

  • Maintain ongoing communication with customers during the estimation process, ensuring transparency on completion timelines. Present and explain multiple repair options, highlighting the benefits of each where appropriate.

  • Develop detailed scope of work, delivery schedule and on-site requirements for equipment rental

  • Provide timeline and installation expectations to customers, based on vendor delivery times and Zelus availability and schedules

  • Execute customer follow-ups to discuss hurdles for approval, options for payment terms and overall customer service for key customers and high complexity projects to ensure satisfactory completion of estimation phase and approved projects

  • Safety Specific:

    • Ensure compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations and company safety policies and procedures
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, free of potential hazards
    • Practice proper ergonomics to prevent strain injuries
    • Adhere to office safety procedures, including emergency evacuation routes, fire drills, and building safety protocols
    • Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses immediately
    • Actively look for and report potential hazards in the workplace
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • High school diploma and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Previous experience in cranes, heavy industrial machinery or related fields

  • Mechanical and electrical knowledge and/or field experience is an asset

  • Knowledge of electrical motors, electrical supply voltages, magnetic brakes considered an asset

  • Understand the requirements for material handling and lifting equipment including applicable industry standards and related information

  • Previous estimation and project management experience, is an asset

  • Ability to review and understand drawings, or technically proficient to learn this skill

    • Reading Operating and maintenance instructions, equipment manuals and other required detailed instructions
  • Detail oriented, quick learned, ability to learn software programs and the use on vendor portals

  • Strong computer skills; MS Office

  • Strong interpersonal skills; positive attitude in the face of obstacles

  • The ability to work with timelines and communicate details and handle tight deadlines

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and drawings

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers/employees of the organization if needed

  • Require high business acumen, ability to communicate with customers about capital expenditures – suggestions to add future repairs to yearly budgets to allow for approval for future repair requirements.
