The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate and committed Assistant Coordinator to join our innovative Child Care team. In this role, you’ll support the coordinator in the overall coordination of our child care programs, while helping staff thrive and ensuring families receive exceptional service.
In this role, you will
-
Work closely with the Coordinator of Child Care Programs to support the overall vision and direction for the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of childcare programs at Purpose Society.

Provide support with the administration of the Society childcare programs, including staffing, expenditures, programming, and evaluation, to ensure that the goals and objectives of the Centres are met.

Along with other employees of the Society, the person appointed to this position will adhere to the Policies and Procedures Manuals (including the ECEBC and the Social Worker Code of Ethics).
What You’ll Do
-
Provide support to the Coordinator of Child Care Programs on ensuring that the centers maintain all applicable standards, guidelines and policies and that all legal and licensing requirements are met.

Ensure that optimal enrollment is maintained at each Centre. Assists Site Managers in meeting with potential parents and providing Centre orientation as needed.

Ensure that guidelines governing the receipt of parent fees are adhered to. Assist with the collection of parent fees from each centre and the related documentation for submission to the Society accountant in a timely manner.

Collect and submits Affordable Child Care Benefit claims from the centres and submit them to the ministry for processing. Assist with the collection of information and submission of Child Care Operational Funding monthly reports.

Lead recruitment and selection process of childcare staff in all centres. Coordinates internal/external postings of all ECE vacancies. Assists Site Managers in all personnel activities, including interviewing, hiring, training and evaluation of staff.

Liaise with colleges offering ECE Programs to attract more practicum students for each site.

Contribute to the development, implementation, short and long term planning and evaluation of programs offered by each childcare Centre.

Research professional development opportunities for childcare staff. Assists the Site Managers in the provision of staff professional training needs. Organizes training sessions.

Provide written monthly reports outlining program issues, including staffing, enrollment, budget, licensing, community development, special projects, etc.

Ensure the child care page in the website is updated regularly and centres submit material for the quarterly newsletter.

Participate in monthly meetings of all Site Managers, takes and distributes meeting minutes. Attends monthly program staff meetings in any centre, when required.

Meet regularly for supervision with the Coordinator of Child Care Programs.

When necessary, step in as a front-line ECE in a child care centre, and adhere to the list of duties and responsibilities of a Front-line ECE.

Acts as the point of contact between employees, internal departments, and external parties, including vendors and clients for all childcare programs, in the absence of the Coordinator of Child Care Programs.

Participates in additional duties relating to a child care centre or other Society programs as assigned by the Coordinator of Child Care Programs
Additional Information:

Work may be outside normal office hours, starting relatively early in the morning. Shift work may apply.

The use of a vehicle may be required for this position.

Holding a valid Class IV Drivers license is an asset.

Food Safe Certification is an asset.
What We Are Looking For
Required Education, Training and Experience:
-
Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Communications or Marketing.
-
A valid Early Childhood Educator license must be maintained throughout employment.
-
At least two years previous experience in an office/administrative role.
-
Previous direct program delivery experience in Early Intervention.
-
Previous program management experience, including direct staff supervision.
Job Skills and Abilities:

Sound understanding of Early Childhood Development and Intervention program services.

Excellent ability to integrate child development theory and practice.

Proven leadership and supervisory skills.

Ability to work in a team and independently

Excellent organizational, time management, and general management skills.

Excellent oral, written, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills.

Solid understanding of child care licensing requirements, and the commitment and ability to ensure compliance.

Ability to work effectively with program staff, volunteers, and non-profit or publicly funded groups, agencies and organizations coupled with the ability to develop, implement and evaluate programs.

Respect for diversity and inclusive practice.

Ability to perform moderate physical activities such as walking, standing, bending, lifting children and housekeeping duties.
