SCHOOL MEALS PROGRAM - REPLACEMENT STEP #1
About the role
There is a position available for the School Meals Program Replacement Step #1 at Alwin Holland Elementary School. Applications must be completed online via the website and will be accepted until 12:00 pm noon, May 12, 2026.
Reporting to the site Administrative Officer(s), this position is responsible for purchasing groceries and assembling prepared foods and beverages for student lunches and delivering lunches to each classroom using student lists that are compiled on a monthly basis.
Hours of work : (5.0) hrs/day, Five (5) days per week
Duties to Commence: September 8, 2026, until June 24, 2027, or until
return of the incumbent
Work Base Year: 10 Months
Commencing Salary: $28.06/hr.
Duties to be assigned include:************
- Purchases groceries as required as economically as possible.
- Complies student meal lists collected from each classroom teacher on a monthly basis.
- Ensures all food is prepared and handled in accordance with Food Safe requirements.
- Ensures allergy list requirements are met.
- Ensures food prepared meets the nutritional requirements as outlines by the Canadian Food Guide.
- Works in conjunction with the Site Administrative Officer(s) and District Health and Safety Supervisor to act as liaise with Health Inspector.
- Maintains the work environment in accordance with Government Standards.
- Assembles and delivers lunches to classes.
- Maintains and administers records and collects and submits monies received.
- Performs other job related duties as directed by the site Administrative Officer(s).
Qualifications:
- Grade 10 or equivalency
- Food Safe Certificate
- Class 5 Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle
- Experience in a similar role considered an asset
- Ability to work independently and set priorities
- W.H.M.I.S. Certificate and other online safety training provide by the District to be completed within the probationary period
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
- Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
